The "laugh" of the coconut tree!
61THE COCONUT TREE BLOOMS!
In Tamil folk songs, you will find a simile "ThennamPaLai vedichchathu pOLe ava Sirippu" - "she laughed like the blooming of the Coconut tree".
As the coconut tree grows tall, it is not easy to see the blooming of the tree in close quarters. But I was lucky to have my neighbor’s coconut tree at arms distance at my terrace. So I could manage to see the beautiful phenomenon unfolding over a couple of days and I managed to take a few snaps for the pleasure of sharing with you all.
(1) The bud is getting ready (24 Nov 07)
2) Just bursting to laugh – Start of the smile (14 Dec 07- Morning)
3) Laughing wider – (14 Dec 07- Evening)
4) Ha..ha...ha.... (15 th Dec '07 - Morning)

cv rajan, that is a lovely simile and very discriptive photographs.
just thought I'm let you know . the link in your text is not working.
Wonderful pictures! 'Sirippu' is just the right word :)
As ag said, there's a slight problem with that link in the beginning!

those are great photos that you have captured....
i remember in the Philippines, some people use the blooms as firewood when it dries.. and also for decoration ..... i think the coconut tree is the only tree that you can use all its parts for different purposes.. nothing is wasted....
