'In the beginning...

God created the heavens and the earth.' And, I can only assume he was pretty pleased with himself.

'And the earth was without form, and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.'

"and god said "let there be light" and there was light, and he saw that it was good," but not brilliant because there was a bit of a glare. That's when he created sunglasses.

Witty satire not being my strongpoint, I opted for downright plagirism for my first blog in which I will be writing about the best things in life, in general and in utero. In utero is a good starting point, as my impending fatherhood has found me pondering the great questions in life. And when I say 'questions', we can usually filter that down to one...

'What is the meaning of life?'

Now me being an atheist, I firmly believe that when I die, that's it, seeya, would not wanna be ya. Many people find my views odd. When questioned by a colleague on the subject just the other day, the debate concluded by him telling me, 'Well, you've got to believe in God a little bit!'. It is a common response.

However, I think my beliefs give me an edge. I want to make the most of my one life, I want to make myself and my loved ones happy, and I want to make a list of all the best things to do before I fall of this mortal coil.

Given the subject matter is very broad, I'm going to start small at first, sharing my favourite songs with you.

So my first 'list of the things to do before I die' is:

Listen to my top 5 songs (That make you feel good about yourself)

If you have never listened to these songs before, download them or buy them or go to your mate that has a side business of making 'hooky' CD's and tell him to make you an album (He'll probably be greatful your not asking for porn). Then take your time, line them up, and play them back to back:

1. Uptight by Stevie Wonder - Walk down the street to it on your ipod. You'll look like an idiot but feel like a prince.

2. Too Busy Thing About My Baby by Marvin Gaye - Gives you the excuse you always wanted for doing rubbish school.

3. You Make My Dreams Come True by Hall and Oates - Make you wish you lived in the 80's looked like Don Johnson, and grew the best moustache in showbiz (Google John Oates kids).

4. Don't Stop Moving by S Club 7 - Sheer joy and disco. Request it at a nightclub and see the chaos.

5. Accidentally in Love by Counting Crows - My favourite band and your new favourite band.

I would appreciate it if you left feedback and suggestions on the music that makes you happy. Leave off the generally 'Great Songs' as we will come to thise later dowm the line.

My list is active, so if you can make a valid reason on why one song should be one there instead of another then say so.

Comment and debate, but no Black Lace please.
