What is the mapping, when you implement and what parameters may vary.

The old figure of the mechanical that use the ear to regulate the carburetion is leaving the pitch to the informatics technician, which modifies the electronic mapping with a computer.

In a modern four-stroke engine there is no other way to change the mapping of injection and firing.

Any mechanical changes that we introduce in an engine in an attempt to improve its performance, it requires tweaking the percentages of air and gasoline that you enter into the combustion chamber.

In a two-stroke engine this is done by adjusting the carburetors, but in a modern four-stroke engine there is no other remedy to change the mapping of injection and firing

The cheapest way to do this is to reprogram the unit, within which there are data that make the engine run, replacing the original with  one more sportive.



This operation can has some drawback: it is ideal when you replace the exhaust pipe with a high-performance but on racing creates problems because there is continuous experimentation and parameters are constantly changing.

Another way is the replacement of the serial firing system with a reprogrammable system.

The great advantage of these reprogrammable switching is that you can change the mappings in a computer and then upload the data through the USB port.

The data is downloaded from the bike in the same way and, once placed on your computer, can be modified with precision and possibly transmitted via the Internet in a way which is available and usable by "everyone."


The changes to the mapping used to obtain the best performance possible from the flow of gas or to correct the distribution.

With assistance to the injection and ignition systems you can eliminate the "holes" in the carburetion and optimize the performance of the engine.

In this way it can even change the characteristics of an engine, especially if it was developed,at the time of production, to be more quiet than what its owner desires.

In some sports bike (and not) of last generation there is the possibility of changing the mapping of injection without the need for a computer: it uses the same processor and the display of the bike. The key combination to act on the power switch, however, is known only from dealers.

This allows you to change an exhaust pipe, and adjust accordingly the control unit, and also it offers the possibility of a programmable firing system identical to those you use in races.
