Sorry.

That is the most abused and misused word in the English language in my opinion.

As a teacher I must hear this word about a million times a day. Here are some examples.

Sorry I am late. No you're not or you would have planned better and been on time.

Sorry I didn't do my homework... again not really sure you are instead you got to watch tv... go out to dinner or some other fun task.

my personal favorite... not said by the kids but often by adults.. I am sorry that you feel that way... yes you are sorry that I am angry/sad/annoyed not because you regret what you did but because you regret the outcome... mmm

Think of all the sorry's that you hear in your day.. how many of them are heartfelt or even the first that you have recieved from that person for that same transgression.

Sorry...the most abused word in the English language!

You are 101% right & I believe a most popular or frequently used in daily life is also sorry. You can hardly compare use of sorry with thank you or you are welcome.

"Free" - there is no such thing. "Free" to me implies "without cost or commitment"
