The new Camaro vs The new Challenger.
72The New Challenger vs The New Camaro
Lets start with the Challenger first. Dodge has giving new birth to one of its favorite muscle cars. They were released in 2008. Also to mention they sold out before the 2009 model was even said to be made. Many people have come to love the new generation of the car. The Challenger comes in three packages. They are all priced differently startinting around $22,000 all the way up to around 46,000 are so.
First is the base model SE. The SE doesn't come with all the bells and whistles but isn't to far behind. It has a 3.5 liter V6 which puts out 250 horsepower to the rear wheels. Its a four speed automatic behind the motor. This set up does pretty good on gas mileage. Gettting seventeen mpg city and twenty-five mpg highway. Its not as much as a compact but good enough for a sports car. Usually people who go after something sporty don't worry about gas mileage. This also exceptional for a daily driver. Theres not many options with the SE like I said its the base model. It does come with four wheel disc breaks, touring suspension, block heater,AM/FM radio which also reads MP3s and is satelite- capable, and with a few optional things like a sunroof. Anything more you might on to look at a different packaged model.
The R/T is next on the list. Its not the top dog but doesn't fall far behind. With its 5.7 liter V8 Hemi. There are two options to go with on the transmission. The five speed automatic or the six speed manual which is part of the Track Pack Group. The five speed auto option puts out 370 hp and 398 ftlbs of torque to the rear wheels. The six speed manual puts out 375 hp and 404 ftlbs of torque to the rear wheels. I know who cares but for the ones that do. The five speed a get you 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The six speed will do about the same losing a mile in the city. I'm just goin off what the manufacture says. If I owned one I would most likely keep my foot in it. Your package options do increase with the R/T. You get some standard which don't come with the SE like steering wheel controls and a compass. What ever else you want go for the granddaddy of them all.
The SRT8 is the last stop on packages for the Challenger. Underneath its hood is a whooping 6.1 liter Hemi. Making 425 horses to the rear wheels. Thats a lot coming straight from the factory. Now you know your goin to stay at the pump with an estimate mpg 13 city and 19 highway. You do get it all with this package. What was not even an option are was on the others may come standard. LIke the Brembo brakes and the sport style suspension. The SRT8 also has the same tranny options as the R/T. There is no doubt Dodge built this one to perform and luxuralize at the same time. Dodge built the new generation a new muscle car that even the ones who were around for the original would love too.
Next up is the newly released 2010 Camaro. Yes it is back finally. Also with three different package options. The new Camaro shares its body plat form with Pontiac's G8. The Camaro's price's start around 22,000 and are suppose stop around 35,000.
First platform to be viewed is the LS model. The LS comes with a V6 which lays 306 horses to the ground. Unlike the Challenger V6 model the Camaro's V6 comes standard with six speed manual and optional six speed automatic with semi manual. Which will get you 17 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. Its not a bare bone model. Chevy does give you some options just not leather seats are foglights. If the LS doesn't acomidate you then look to another model. This is the base model for Pete's sake.
The LT is a step up from the LS but not far. It still has the same motor and transmission options. Only thing is its dressed a little bit better from the factory. You can get leather seats and foglights. I'm not goin to lie its pretty much the same car. The only thing different is the price tag and the items recieved in or outside the car. If you like the V6 but need just a little bit more to put you over the top. Then the LT is the way to go. There is a version of the LT that let yo u get somethings that don't even come on the other models. Still though there is one more model to feast your eye's on so don't get discouraged just yet.
Last but not least to say. The most popular and most pricest model the SS. Now with the SS you get a monster under the hood. A 6.2 liter V8. Just like the V6 you get to choose the transmission of your choice. The automatic will get 400 horses. WHile the manual will get you twenty-five more. Most of the options which you couldn't even dream about on the LS come standard on the SS. It also has a stiffer suspension to compincate for the more heavier V8 and horsepower which comes along with it. Dispite the larger size motor it does pretty good on gas mileage. 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. I guess you can try to save a buck or two at the pump in style.
That just about wraps up the comparission of these two beauties. I know it suppose to be the new Challenger vs the new Camaro. Well it was all on paper and what each manufactuer gave about each car. Maybe when I hit the lottery or find a better way to make money me and a buddy will race them. Till then I'll keep doing reseach and make comparision from there. Thanks for taking the time to view my opions and facts of these two cars. ALL THE PRICES ARE NOT ACTUAL. So please don't expect to find them priced the same at your local dealer and thanks again.
