The P90X Workout Program: What is it?

So..... What exactly is this crazy 90 day workout program I have heard is working wonders with people bodies? Its supposed to give you a body overhaul, and make you look like you`ve always dreamed of looking. If you follow this program then you will lose weight, look and feel great, and gain muscle definition. Um hello, where was P90X when I was getting ready for my wedding! So, basically it achieves all that jazz, along with making you feel healthier and increasing you body`s endurance, and flexibility levels. Wait a minute...it sounds too good to be true! So is it?

Well basically the P90X system is composed of a nutrition plan, and a series of workout videos which focus on different areas of your body and use a variety of exercises from different types of workouts like kickboxing, yoga, kenpo, stretching, abdominal and core exercises to give you a balanced yet extreme home fitness program designed to get you in your best shape yet.It also maintain a very strict schedule of workouts.So the basic components are:

1.P90X workout videos

2.P90X nutrition plan

3.P90X 90 day workout schedule

It is a very well rounded system because it doesnt just focus on the exercise part such as working out nonstop. It incorporates muscle confusion for the maximum results by switching up the routines so your body never gets used to the same thing. Plus since it also has a specific diet plan to follow, if you eat right, then naturally you will also be losing the excess fat while your at it. Ummm duh.


So does P90X  ACTUALLY work?

Well, for all those cynics out there, heres an astounding YES to that one. YES YES YES. It does work. But it isnt gain without any pain. That is for damn sure.

In order to get those amazing results you must be very good at following the program to the letter. Eat the correct foods, lots of protein and fruits, veggies, and whole grained carbs. Drink lots of water, yada yada. Now just reading up on the diet plan, you know you will lose weight based on a nutrional formula. Number of calories you intake must be less than the calories you burn. Adhere to this and  you will lose weight. That, and the fact that you are not eating fast food, or fattening oh-so-yummy foods, its inevitable. I mean, weight loss is supposedly 90% what you eat, and then 10% exercise, or so I have been told. So it looks like if you can follow the program you can succeed.


So now the big question...

Will P90X work for me?

Ok, so if you are anything like me, you look at the P90X system and think- ok great it works for them. But can I actually succeed doing this program? I mean, it shows every other Joe Blow suddenly turning into Superman with buns of steel .. but it looks too good to be true. I mean who can actually imagine themselves with such a dramatic change in their bodies? Ok, so I can imagine it yes, but its not a picture which has solidified in my head. Its more of an abstract model, of a perfect me with the perfect fit, supermodel body which everybody will envy me - and .... ok well you get the idea, its sort of a fantasy picture in my head. But now I`m determined to be the next Joe Blow, or should I say Jane Blow (hehe). So here are the key elements to make this sucka work for you and me.

1. Ok, it takes DETERMINATION- so I know this sounds corny but this program will be a Fail with a big fat F if you cannot stick with for the 90 days. But follow it through, and you will notice your body changing dramatically.

2. Follow the diet plan- this is a very important part of making this whole system work. You need to get rid of all that excess fat if your gonna even see all those beautiful brand new muscles. Yes if you workout without the diet, you will develop those muscles, but they will still be covered by a layer of blubber. That is definately not gonna give you the lean fit look of the pictures. So stick to the diet!

3. Change up the routine- as long as you continue to follow the workout schedule and change up the routines, your body will constantly trick itself into muscle confusion. This means you get fit faster.

All in all, I have heard some amazing things about the P90X program,and am hoping for similar results. I have seen the before and after pics, and I have just started the program myself.I could barely move for 3 days after doing the first workout! But I will persevere... I am challenging my own determination, but if Joe Blow can succeed, then maybe, just maybe I can get my dream body too.
