Witchcraft,Wicca,whatever you want to call it.Mention one of these words to some people and they get images of old women with warts and pointy hats flying on broom sticks.Meeting in the dead of night to convort with the devil.Selling their souls to the devil for magical powers.

This couldn't be further from the truth.Wicca,meaning Wise,we are mothers,daughters,sisters.Some of us are even fathers,sons and brothers.Wicca is a nature based religion relying on the elements to help with our spells and prayers.These elements being Earth,Air,Fire,and the Spirit,our spirit to encompass or bring together all the elements.

We turn to our chosen deity(a God or Goddess) for strength and guidance every day.We are not Satanists,most of us don't even believe in Satan.Just because we don't believe in the Christian God,it doesn't make us evil.

I had an old co-worker call me the "spawn of Satan" on a number of occasions because I'm Wiccan.I would just laugh and crack a joke about locking all the doors in the building and set the place on fire like in the movie "Carrie".

When someone sees my pentacle,sometimes I have to explain that I'm Wiccan,then I go on to say,"Don't worry,I'm a good Witch." A majority of America today is acceptant of Wicca,which a branch off of Paganism;but still,some folks have the wrong idea.

We don't steal babies in the middle of the night to sacrifice them or eat them,we don't make your crops die or make your milk go sour.We are perfectly harmless.We do have morality.We believe in the three fold effect.Whatever you do comes back to you three times,whether it be good or bad,believe me,it has happened to me countless times.

Our morality is largely based on the Wiccan  Rede,which states,"an it harm none,do what ye will."

Wiccans believe magic to be a law of nature, as yet misunderstood by contemporary science.Other Wiccans do not claim to know how magic works, merely believing that it does because they have seen it work for them.We use magic to manipulate change in our lives or the lives of others.

This is where the God and Goddess come into play,along with the elements.Most ceremonies are held in a sacred circle,this circle being made to protect the person or persons in the circle,to keep outside interference from disturbing or harming us.Once the ritual is performed,we thank or deity and "break" the circle.

Magic is everywhere if you just take a look around you and if you have an open mind.It's in the trees,the animals,the air,your children.
