So you want to make a tutu. It pretty quick and pretty easy. Heres what you need

Tulling ( for more on tulling see my tulling hub)

elastic or ribbon

ribbon or flowers

scissors

somthing to measure with

Ok lets start with a non sew which is the white tutu in the pictures. The amount of tulling is different with each tutu for the white tutu I used 5 yards, for the purple and light blue I used 11 yards and they where for a 1 year old so. If you have an older child figure out if you want it to be really puffy or more lanky and go from there. For this project we'll go with what I did on the white which was 5 yards. When you buy your tulling its easier if you have them cut it into yards there at the store say your getting 5 yards of pink have them cut it into 5 one yard bits. Now take one of your yards and lay it out on a table or the floor. Now measure the length. you must remember that you are going to eather be sewing this tor tying it to elastic/ribbon so with doing the length dubble it so its not just one layer its 2 and it adds to the puff. Using the fold it itn middle already is helpfull for the white tutu I folded one more time and still and a little extra. with the 2 folds its came to be 4 layers. after you have the length and everything right the fastest and easiest was to cut the tutu into strips is to roll up the tulling like a sleeping bag or wrap. Once its wraped measure 3 in and cut. Cut every 3 inches.

Once you get it all cut and got strips. take your elastic ( the right length or ribbon if you have elastic sew it togather if its ribbon make it a little longer to tie the ends once the tulling is all on.) now take the strips that are folded take the middle and put it at the bottem of the elastic and pull the tails of the tulling arould the elastic and throught the lupe so its a lupe knote. pull nice and tight now do it again and again and again till all the tulling is on the elastic/ribbon. once done if you have ribbon tie it you now have a tutu. to add flower and bows you would sew them on or hot glue. even for just a tutu its super cute. now for the dress if you did elastic take some ribbon and do a lupe knote around the front of the tutu and pull to tie at the back of childs neck or if you did a ribbon leave the ribbon long enought to use the extra as the tie.
