day one on the road to becoming debt free

OK this is it. I am setting a goal to become financially free one year from today. This blog will track my progress. It should prove to be a fun and educational trip. With that said let me give you a little back round of myself.

I recently turned 29 in December. I was laid off from my job of ten years in October. I wanted to leave anyway just not at that time. So here i am 29, jobless, broke and have a mountain of debt to paid off somewhere in the number of $32,000. Sounds like fun right? Well that's enough about my current situation. Lets talk about what i know how to do.

i never went to college, only went to high school Platt tech to be exact where i took electro-mechanical. Learn all about electricity, schematic reading, ohm's law, motor controls, logic, fiber optics, pneumatics, hydraulics all at a very basic level. It's been ten years since I graduated I still recall most of it. Right out of high school I joined the team at tri-city appliance in Milford, ct. it was a great experience I watched the company grow from a 4 person operation to having around 50 employees and a new HVAC division. While there I learned appliance repair, also when I started working in the office I learned management, team-building, sales, customer service and some marketing. Also went to a team-building seminar and customer service seminar where I learned a lot, also passed the test for basic EPA license.

Now that was my work life. In my personal life I have always loved music and art. I have been playing guitar for awhile now though I am still not very good cause I don't practice enough that will change soon though, I have done some painting and poetry which I will get into in later blogs.(so stay tuned) I have also always had a fascination with electronics and making things. So I am going to start circuit bending. I have an extensive CD and record collection as well as DVDs.

Well I don't want to bore you with all the details. So back to my goal like I said I have built up a nice debt of $32,000, which I plan on being out of by January 6th 2008. This blog will track my progress day to day. If anybody out there has any advice on this topic I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you and have a great day

Allan M. Gagnon

P.S. I was going to make a you-tube video so that you can see the funk of a room I currently allow myself to live in, however I could not seem to get my video to upload into my computer hopefully I will have that figured out by tomorrow.

Well I haven't really figured that out yet. My thinking is that as long as I get my personal life together. Stop being a slacker and do the things I really enjoy than opportunities will come my way.
