The right one for you...

Looking for a new GPS or Sat Nav system can often be a difficult and daunting task. There are so many different makes, models, brands, features and add-ons that it can make simply getting from A-B by Sattelite more trouble than reading a good old fashioned map.

So, today we are going to give you the low down on our Top 3 best Sat NAvs available right now according to reliability, accuracy, features, battery life and of course PRICE!

first up we have the Garmin Nuvi 250:

One of the smallest and simplest GPS systems on the market, the Nvi 250 has everything that the would-be traveller is looking for.

It is quick to find satelites and acquire GPS signals from booting up, it comes pre-loaded with briliant bonus features such as: City guides, a local foreign phrase book and even a currency converter on its removable SD-Card.

The Nuvi 250 is very simple and clear to use, giving you two simple options on start-up, 'where to & 'View Map', so there a no confusing mini-screens or sub menus to go through, however the 250's detailed maps can sometimes be a little too detailed and ever so slightly confusing.

The Nuvi has crisp and clear voice instructions that will guide you easily to your destination with speed camera alerts to help you too.

It has a 3.5in touch scren which is very clear and not overly laden with confusing or distracting text or graphics, everything is quite minimal in fact even down to the design, with its silver or black finish and contoured edges, it fits nicely into your pocket or hand bag, plus weighing only 5.20z, it really is nothing to cary around.

The Garmin is easily the most simply and reliable GPS systems out there right now and with a 5-hour battery life on a full charge, a trip to London and back is no hard task.

We think that this GPS system is the best value for money, with clear, accurate directions bringing you within 3-5 meters of your destination every time. It does not have some of the advanced features that some people are looking for such as, media playback and live internet streams, but it does what it was made to do very well, and that is navigate!

If you shop around you can find the garmin Nuvi 250 for around £85 pounds.

The Nuvi 250 also comes in a wide screen version...

Next up we have the Tom Tom Go 720:

Tom Tom has been a market leader from day one with its navigation systems and is still well in the market today.

The new Go 720 from Tom Tom is in our opinion the best Tom Tom on the market at the moment, packed full of features and a price that won't break the bank if your budget range is for a high-end piece of kit.

The 720 comes in at prices from as low as £130... (Shopping around is a good choice as some sites/stores do charge over the odds for this system e.g £300+)

The 720 is one of the more feature packed GPS systems out there with some cool capabilities such as:

Beginners mode for the easiest use ever, built in bluetooth so you can connect to your mobile which will allow the Tom Tom to read out text messages, act as a speakerphone during calls, download new maps and updates via you WAP connection including spped camera updates and traffic and weather updates!

The 720 comes with an FM transmitter so you can run it through your car stereo and hear everything through your speaker system and you can also hook up your ipod and play your tunes as you go!

tom Tom have really pulled out all the stops on this model including cool features like voice recognition and Map share, which allows you to customise and edit maps with new changes and routes, then upload them to the Map Share community for others to download and Visa versa!
This is a briliant piece of kit for the price and probably our favourite Sat-Nav on the market right now...

The 720 weighs around 200 grams and has a battery life of upto 5 hours...

If you are looking for a good mid-top-high-end GPS system at a good price this is the one for you...

And finally we have the Tom Tom GO 940 Live:

The 940 Live is the most powerful and feature full sat-nav on the market at the moment and has everything you would expect from a top-top-end GPS device and it comes with the price tag to match...

Where to start? well, the 940 Live comes in at a hefty £390 quid + from the Official Tom Tom store and can be found for as low as 298 at some stores with some shopping around...

So what do you get for all that wonga!?

Well... First off you get access to Tom Tom Live fro 3 months, which will allow you to use their IQ routes which amazingly calculates eta's etc for each individual road on your route and saves the data for next time as a route profile.

You will get Tom Tom HD traffic, which also amazingly scans all the mobile phones around you in cars next to you also, to bring you live and upto the minute traffic details! Crazy we Know!!!

These are just a few of the live services you will get.

Other standard features on the Live 940 include local fuel prices, points of interest,  enhanced positioning technology, Tom Tom Map Share, UK, EU, US & AUS Maps,  Voice command,  Record your own voice instructions (WOW!!!), Hands free capabilities, weather guides, MP3, Built in FM transmitter( For through stereo sound), photo viewing, Document viewer and even Device to device content sharing!

As you can see this is truly the daddy of sat navs out there, with so many new and cool features, you'll never really need to buy another sat nav again; this monster is ready for the present and future of navigation systems.

The 940 weighs in at 224 grams, just about the same as the 720, which is alot lighter than you'd expect for such a feature packed device and the battery life is not too bad either lasting upto 3 hours on a constant run...

So there you have it, Soul Nectar's guide to sat navs and GPS...

God Bless
