The ubiquitous skinny jeans for the not so skinny

We only have Kate Moss to blame for reviving a trend that has long been dead and buried a decade ago together with the God-awful shoulder pads and the ugly, poodle-like permed bob... Now you see them more often than you see pirated DVD's sold in the sidewalks... and the number keeps rising...
But, does the skinny jeans live up to its reputation of being just for the skinny? Don't think so.... It's not all about how slim, how curvy, how short, or how tall you are... it's all about how you WEAR it.
Just some tips I'd like to share to you on wearing skinny jeans for the not so skinny...
PEAR SHAPED
Time and again, I've been told skinny jeans are not for pear shaped women... But did that stop us? Noooooo... Well, if you're as stubborn as I am, big ass and all, here are some do's and don'ts in wearing skinny jeans.
DO
-wear them with long blouses or tunics with big, sort of bat wing-ish or bell sleeves. i really don't know what they call em, but you get the point. Try to balance a bottom heavy body with volumnous tops. Try the kimono-type dressy tops with bell sleeves.
-If you're a shirt and jeans kinda gal, opt for long, dress shirts that go beyond the hip line.
-Go for darker jeans. They make your legs look slimmer.
-If you're still not too sure with the skinny skinny jeans, go for the straight cut jeans. It still has the same effect as its really tight counterpart sans the unflattering part.
-Go for heels--stilletoes, platform pumps... Whatever, Go crazy with heels. Heels also give the illusion of slimmer and longer legs.
-Wear knee high boots and tuck your skinny jeans in it, especially if you have big calves.
-wear long, slouchy off shoulder tops.
-layer, layer, layer.
-then top it off with a cute, taylored jacket.
DON'T
-wear ultra tight skinny jeans, the type that looks and feels like a second skin. It will magnify (READ: magnify, not accentuate) your huge thighs and equally huge derriere...
-wear it with midriffs, or short tops that barely touch the waist. It will bring more attention to your big buns.
-wear it with flats. It'll you look shorter and more plump.
-wear the lighter colored skinny jeans. makes your legs look fatter.

thanks... :) i've always been reluctant before with wearing skinny jeans since i'm bottom heavy, but then... what the heck... wouldn't hurt to give it a try... and now i own like a bunch of em... love em to death.. :)
If you wear them correctly (like you advice on your hub) skinny jeans actually DO work to make you look sexier and slimmer.
ur a genius, drey. U know me, I am chubby but I actually managed to do what you said months ago in Germany and like u said, if u do wear the right combination, it will look good on you. Astig jud ka day.

I do love my skinnies, I must admit that I got a few of them in differet brands and colours. I always wear them with high heels... but then... I am always on high heels ;-)
