The Best Social Networking Community Website
58MySpace
Myspace was one of the first social networking websites that I joined and actually used on a daily basis. I'd been a member of other sites such as Hi5 and Friends Reunited but I'd never really got into them very much. Myspace was different because so many people were already members of it which made it very easy to get started and get back in touch with old friends very quickly.
It was also very good to be able to customise my homepage to give it a theme, from the backgrounds to the background music and even videos.
It has really grown a great deal over the last 12 months and wherever you go you seem to find people who have a Myspace account, and if someone doesn't have an account they soon sign up when they realise just how many of their friends use it.
Myspace has also become a fantastic place where new bands can showcase themselves and keep their fan bases informed of upcoming gigs, new releases and latest news. It is also very easy for bands to get more fans via Myspace because the address for their Myspace page is always an extension of www.myspace.com/band-name so it is easy for people to recognise and remember.
I've been a member of Facebook for quite a while now but because of the dominance of Myspace, I'd never really looked at it too much. But I'd heard that a few old school mates were using it who were not members of Myspace so I decided to give it a try and see if I could get back in touch with some old friends.
I found it to be a lot cleaner than Myspace in that everyones profile page has the same format so it is easy to read and find out about them. Whereas a benefit of Myspace was definitely being able to customise your profile, some people jut took it too far and their profiles often remind me of really old websites with flashing icons and text all over the place.
But Facebook doesn't really allow that much customisation of the profile page, however this doesn't stop you from having fun on there because there are a number of applications that can be added. These features allow for interactivity between you and your friends, examples are features such as being able to play poker with your friends or turn them into zombies!
You can also create your own clubs which relate to your interests which can be on just about anything, your favourite band, films or schools.
Also as yet the amount of spam generated by Facebook has been zero, I have never received friend requests from adult sites or messages asking me to go to these sites which is a huge advantage over Myspace who are experiencing big problems with spam.
Yuwie
Yuwie is a relatively new website which at first glance is very similar to Myspace and Facebook. But there is a lot of potential to make money with Yuwie because of the referrals system.
The more people you refer to Yuwie, and the more people they refer, the more chance you have of making money with the site. There is also credit given to the amount of pages that you and each of the people you refer visit. So the more pages visited, the more money you can make.
In terms of the way Yuwie works, you can form and join clubs about subjects which interest you. The same goes for your old schools, colleges and Universities which gives great potential to being able to meet old friends.
You can also start your own blog which people can subscribe to and be notified when you add a new entry. This is another great feature if you are trying to build a fan club for a special interest or your music band.
At the moment Yuwie is quite new but it is gaining new members every day and is certainly growing in size and stature. Personally I think it has a long way to go before it can start competing with the likes of Myspace and Facebook, but it certainly has the potential and with the potential to earn money it is likely that people will make a big effort to get others to join.
I have just written a new free report which explains the basics of Yuwie and how you can profit from referring your friends to Yuwie. You can download it for free here.

My personal pick: Tribe.net
It is far more useful for keeping in touch with people you already know, and is largely focused on 'tribes', which are essentially user-created discussion forums. There is no spam and Tribe gives a lot of options for controlling what information you want to share with whom. It's so important to my social life (and that of my friends), that if it ever goes down for maintenance I start getting calls from all over the West Coast- everyone freaks out, fearing our social calendars are lost and no more parties will ever happen. It's great! :-)
