I like that you added pictures and commentary, instead of just a laundry-list of available videos. Some of these seem genuinely appealing to me and I'll watch them. (Yes I'll digg it and give you a reddit point)

Great finds Derevirn!
Is there a version of "Hawking's Universe" without Japanese commentary?
Hmm I don't think so...
Here's a new finding though :)
BBC Horizon Programme: The Blind Watchmaker:
its not japanese, its Cantonese, a chinese dialect generally spoken in HongKong
Great list! I like your taste.
You should add Dennett at TedTalks2006 though. (on religion as a natural phenomenon):
Nevermind. I forgot for a minute that this is a google video list & that particular one isn't on there...
Shame on me.
A good talk nonetheless...
The century of the self. BBC documentary by adam curtis. Amazing insight into philosophy. Also available from the internet archive in better quality
My best find on google video so far has to be "The Power of Nightmares"
Thanks, Goeran. I watched the Bullshit episode about bottled vs tap water, which was fantastic! Looking forward to the one where they debunk Feng Shui!
What a wonderful collection of thought provoking documentary and other videos, I watched The Root of All Evil and it was really inspiring stuff! great way to educate and entertain the the masses. TED talks are great as usual, thanks.
did you see? Penn and Teller's BS episode on the war on drugs was removed from google video. I saw it two days ago and today I tried to do it again and it's no longer there
Thanks for the info FB. Those BS episodes come and go on Google Video. I hope that one day they will just upload all episodes again and keep them there. (They could split ad revenues with the copyright owner right?)
This is a great Hub. Thought you might like to know we just launched video capsule for Google video. You can now embed video in the page.

Thanks SO much; thoroughly enjoyed that milton friedman and the chess movie. Looking forward to spending many more happy hours thanks to your list. Wish all hub/squidoo pages were this interesting! Well done.
Robert Wright is such a moron. It's embarassing to hear him interview such great minds. What a waste! Even in the hands of a Charlie Rose (who's overrated) it would've been such a great opportunity.
have you looked for Who killed the electric car?

Just a quick question.
Has anyone tried the download as ipod file on the video google pages ? It works 90% of the time.
Occasionally, I download an mp4 and it has the video but not the audio. (even though the audio is in the original video.google stream ...)
(example: Frontiers of Astronomy: Epiosdes 2,3,7,14)
does anyone know why this might happen ?
Just a quick question.

I thought these two documentaries on autistic savants were fantastic. One is about Kim Peek, the inspriation for the movie Rain Man, who can read a page from a book in about 8 seconds and remembers the information, many years later, nearly perfectly
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-676726162
The other is about the highly functional Daniel Tammet, who can learn any language in seven days, does mathematical computations with ease, and also has an amazing memory.

Cool hub, but a bunch of links do not work for me. :( I guess it's time to update the hub :)
Wow really nice! Great hub.Interesting topic, well written. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for making this nice collection of videos. This is one of rare 'best of' web pages that has informative and educational videos. Most others just collect funny, stupid, or cool videos, and sometimes they make mistake and put some good one.
I am also trying to make a collection of videos that are effective and can change viewers opinions on issues. The site already has 120 videos. Link is http://best-google-videos.com
wow, what a collection of videos! it is nice to find the older stuff and re-watch it.
A lot of TV worth watching here, all though I can't help but think I see some suggestive philosophical undertones. We'll leave it at that.
great post but some of the links don't work. here are too blogs worth checking out!
http://entertainmentthis.blogspot.com they cover all the sites to watch any movie or tv shows plus more online. And over at the disclosure they have over 300 online documentaries for people to watch. http://blogleak.blogspot.com
This is an interesting list of videos. Some very profound and historical, others just plain funny!
Very well done hub! I really enjoyed "The History Of Hacking"
Keep the info coming.
The elegant universe links don't work so here's a link of the video on youtube I found:
Great list, i've seen about 3/4 of those videos. I love the History of Hacking one.
Thanks for the article. Did you know the usenet existed since the 70s ? Within the last years the usenet became the new p2p alternative. The Usenet contains more than 350 terabyte of data currently. A Usenet Provider which offers flatrate accounts for usenet access is the best solution for you if you download alot.
Good sharing. Lot videos i never seen and it is quite educated. Learn lot here. Good finding.
What a great page of video finds. On the lighter side of web video, I created As Seen On TV Video (www.asseenontvvideo.com) so visitors can view hundred of TV commercials for As Seen on TV products in one place. You can rate or comment on the commercials, and I've provided links to where they can be purchased. When you want to take a break from documentaries and in-depth interviews, stop on by.
Great hub and thought provoking info. Here's an interesting alternative.
Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" Series is awesome - thanks for the links I Digg!
I like to watch Google video too. I often watch it during lunch time. It was exiting. I like the History of hacking from discovery channel. At home, I like to watch its program from my TV. I wish it is an HDTV. Just can’t imagine how great it is, I read article about this TV("http://www.hdtvtelevisionchoice.com") as the best television technology nowadays. This is an interesting article, visit it. It also contains the comparison HDTV technology with other technologies.
Wonderful hub. The videos are very nice and interesting. I usually like watching BBC News on TV as and when I have time. The BBC News is very interesting to me. Thanks for your hard effort and for sharing the information. I like this hub. Here a similar informative site about Samsung Projection Hdtv on http://www.hdtvtelevisionfacts.com/samsung-project Please step into this site to find more information about Samsung Projection Hdtv.
A very nice piece of work! I was looking, if there was Carl Sagan and I found it. He is the best for me, though.
I've laughed so much just now.
Just an added information,
you can download the videos from google video or other web using a program called: Orbit downloader, depending on the file mostly in .flv or .avi
more documentary can be found on www.guba.com
