Ask Susan Peters Comments:

There are traces of the "good stuff". Traces in dust form of DRIED CARROTS, DRIED SPINACH, DRIED TOMATOES the rest is fillers and junk.

The bag clearly states there are no fillers added. Corn and grains are certainly fillers. I'm waiting on a answer from the company about what they think fillers are. I've sent an email to them but haven't heard back.

This is a new brand of dog food with a full line of pet foods for both dogs and cats. I hope they realize that all the corn and grains and junk in this food is not what the public is looking for.

UPDATE: The company asked me to visit their web site to find the answers to my questions about their products contents. The web site gives the chart shown below but does not give any ingredient listings. After visiting their web site I do NOT feel like an informed consumer.

Corn, wheat and soy are resonsible for fever, ear aches, ear infections, bad bread, dental disease, hair loss, dry and itchy skin, bloat, tumors, warts, moles, abnormal nail growth, arthritis, deafness, blindness, digestive problems, inflamed liver, inflamed kidneys, bladder problems, heart problems, and death. Oh yeah, for the good effects of corn, soy, and wheat - reduces the cost of pet food production. This does not sound wholesome to me!

Beet pulp is another cheap filler used by pet food companies. "Beet Pulp" sounds good, doesn't it? Well it's not. Just because Grandma told us we had to eat our beets as kids doesn't mean it is good for our dogs. Grandma didn't take the nutrients out of the beet and leave us just the dried fiber to eat, did she? Beet pulp is junk!

Chicken by-product meal. By-products are floor sweepings collected from a rendering plant. Anything that hits the floor and is not fit for human consumption is by-product. By-products can't have "added" feathers but the ones included in the mess are just fine. Meal means the floor sweepings have had the water removed and the feathers, poultry poo, whatever has hit the floor is now concentrated.

Natural Flavor. I always like the way pet food companies hide the use of

manure in the ingredients. Natural flavor is made from the manure of the

animal the pet food company wants the pet food to taste like. Yep, this

company's Chicken flavor is flavored with chicken manure.

I**Update** A Class Action has been filed against The Goodlife Recipe company for using deceptive advertising.

I've started feeding my cats Goodlife Recipe cat food and can't seem to find the Ash or Manganese per cents anywhere on the bags. Can someone point me in the direction to find this out? I love my cats and really want the best for them.

Thanks

This food is crap. It seems you cannot get anything of quality under a 1.25 per 3 oz can, and under $15 for a 4 pound bag of dry food.

Quality foods are expensive, but worth it. If you can purchase your animal's food at Wal Mart or a grocery store, IT'S CRAP.

Companies like this make their money on uninformed consumers. Take the time to read the label. Learn what ingredients make a quality food.

By the way, I love this website.

Hey! I just recently bought the brand Goodlife for my two dogs. The first dog (siberian husky) got sick, and was throwing up. The entire day she went without eating and her stomach was rumbling..LOUDLY! the second dog (German Shepard), got sick today. i noticed this morning she was acting somewhat lazy, and sure enough, by lunch time she was throwing up too. They both only threw up grass, but still this dog food recall has got me scared!!! I dont see goodlife on the recall list though. hopefully it won't be in my case.

My dog is allergic to the "red" ingredient. Do goodlife products contain red?

Andy  says:

Our beagles love Goodlife as a supplement to the home made meals they get. The homemade meals include chicken breast, fresh veggies, diced apples, brown rice and lower cholesterol eggs. Goodlife is fed as a bonus meal when we're away at work and they eat it a couple mouthfuls at a time as a snack during the day. I grew up on a farm and dried corn was a treat for the dogs...they would wait until the dried ears fell off the back of the trucks and go wild fighting the cows for their share. It's all about their environment and the amount of activity they get. Dogs foraged for food and it didn't take science to feed them.

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but my dog now has kidney or liver failure with bloody diahirrea and also vomitting since eating this food. The store informed us that although it's not on any recall list, it's been removed from their shelves since several consumer complaints. We bought it early February from a store out west wherein there are apparently bad 'batches' that were distributed, so it is not on warning lists yet or FDA notices, etc....there is a WIDE spread of many effected foods not even mentioned YET!! If your dog needs immune-system boosting try this: www.petparentsnetwork.com Highest Quality Care!

Note the the Goodlife Recipe is owned/made by mars as in the candy company. Being somewhat poor I tend to by the better of the worse brands and mix them. This one seems to be one of the better brands you can by at the grocery store

When will consumers learn that flashy advertising isn't the answer. I own a pet supply store and none of my products are on the list. It's not that expensive to do what is right for your pet. DON'T listen to your vet, listen to the people who know and study this stuff and trust your own instincts. Remember cats are conivors and dogs are omnivors (sp) cats have no need for grain and dogs need little. Meat, think meat..... food should not include corn, wheat, by products, or rice ick. Think meat, fish, veggies, and low grain, perferably non-gleutin. REmember to make a kibble, they need something to glue it together. Make sure its healthy. You may want to ditch the whole idea of kibble, not the nbest for any pet.Sorry for the spelling mistakes.

why are you putting down the goodlife dog food, when all the trouble people are having trying to figure out what they can feed there dog? when the recall came out i went to the store to find something for my dog. i have never heard of the goodlife when we were in the store i just happened to come across the only bag of it left "lucky" so it doesn't have all the best in it it wioll do until we find out what is good and what isn't. my dog is very pickey but she does eat this so, quit running this dog food and lrt people use until its straighted out ok. alice

I just started my dog on the goodlife food yesterday as I didnt see it on the recall list. By this evening, he was vomiting profusely and had dysentary for hours. Needless to say I am throwing the bag out. I am wondering how many other people have had similar experiences. I mixed it with some of the food that he has been eating for the last two months so the only change in his diet was two scoops of this food. I will be up all night watching to see the outcome. If anyone hears from the company, please let me know.

I have read all the comments on here and wanted to add something. First of all, what we all have to remember is that pets are individuals too. Just because one dog does not tolerate this food doesn't mean that it is going to make all dogs ill. Just as some humans can drink milk and some can't. Secondly, we have been feeding our 5 year old boxer and 3 1/2 year old boxer/lab mix this food for a while now with no problems at all. They are still extremely healthy (per our vet!) and active dogs. The absolutely love this food. Admittedly they have always been grazers, they love veggies....as Diane stated previously...our pups are omnivores. I would suggest talking to your vet if you have concerns.

auntblanche  says:

My picky Pomeranian has no problem with Goodlife. She also grazes grass outside, gets turkey breast a couple of times a week. Absolutely no digestive problems. As very well stated in previous post, dogs are as individual as people. Some of us are lactose intolerant, allergic to tomatoes, etc etc. I'm sure that people with dogs with problems with this food are much more likely to post comments than those who don't. For heaven's sake, if your dog doesn't tolerate this food, get him/her something else!

I have three dogs: Welsh Corgy-7 yr., Tibetan Terrier-7 yr., and a Beagle-Chesapeake Bay Mix-7 yr. My dogs are on their second bag of Good Life dog food, and so far love it and are fine. I have noticed a change in the color of their stool though. It is now an orange color, but that could be from the color of the kibble.

I have 2 chocolate Labs that have been spooled with having wet food mixed in with dry dog food. Before trying The GoodLife Recipe they would not eat dry food at all without the wet food mixed in with it. Both of the dogs have been eating both the chicken and the beef recipes for quite some time and they are as feisty as ever. The product and the company is not on the recall list and my dogs dont show any signs of being sick.

Kim  says:

I've been feeding my dog GoodLife since it first came out. No sickeness. Have had both the chicken and beef versions. Also have fed him the "bones", he loves them. 30 lb poodle/schnauzer mix. not sick. loves this food, and is a picky eater. to get him extra omega's, i feed him a couple of omega-rich eggs a week.

I started my cat on the GoodLife food about a month ago, and she seemed to do well with it, no sickness or vomiting so I chose to buy the food for my dogs as well. (Beagle and Shih-Tzu Terrier Mix) The past week, all three of my animals have been experiencing nausea, vomiting and my cat's been acting very agitated. At first, I was worried because of the pet food recall and I checked to see if this was on the list via google, and found this website with more people complaining of the same symptoms. Obviously I've stopped giving them the food completely, but I'm unsure of what to buy next because of the recalls. It seems like nothing's safe anymore for our pets!

Lynn  says:

We have always fed my cocker dry foods from Eukanuba, Science Diet, etc, but it has always been apparent that he doesn't really like any of them. Goodlife is the first dry food he has ever liked to eat. While he had gastrointestinal upsets in the past from switching foods, he had no problems when we tried Goodlife. The Goodlife food has no wheat gluten...it has corn gluten. A vet suggested in the Cleveland Plain Dealer that you avoid any foods with wheat gluten for now to be safe, as that is the only implicated ingredient. My labrador retriever died after a long, healthy 16 years eating various dry dog foods. The recalling is scary, but I'm not going to get too paranoid.

I have been using Goodlife for my Brittney for about 2 months. He has been allergic to everything from the Prescritpion Dog Food to the Name Brands. This is the only food that has NOT caused rashes, hairloss or digestive problems. His stools are still a orangish color. But, everything else is fine. We have dealt with his allergies for over 2.5 years. We were thrilled to find Goodlife.

Ingredients as listed on the bag of food for dogs (not all, just the first few) are:

1. ground corn (isn't this a filler?)2. chicken by-products (mmm, beaks and feet!)3. corn gluten meal (source of lutein says the bag)4. chicken (finally)5. animal fat

There are obviously more ingredients listed but they do say to check the first 4 or 5, so here you have them.

My dog has been eating this food for awhile now and has had no problems. She doesn't seem to like the chicken one, but does eat the beef one and has had no health issues. No vomitting, no diarrhea, no bouts of acting strange. So far, this food is doing us just fine.

What everyone needs to keep in mind is that if you change your pets' food it should be mixed with what they were used to eating (if possible) until you have them completely on the new dogfood. (adding more of the new and less of the the old each time) Changing your pet's food is hard on their digestive system and hence they will throw-up or have diahrea until they get used to it. If they don't, then your pet needs to switch to a different food because it cannot tolerate that one.

I am on my second bag of goodlife dog food and my rotty loves this stuff...as for the orange "poop" yeah she has that, but i am not worried. i agree with the other postings... all dogs are different just like all people. if you eat green food you get green "P**P" eat some spinach you'll see :) as long as my dog eats it and its not on a recall list i am happy and she seems to be! I switched my two cats to goodlife dry food about 6 weeks ago. One of the cats can't get enough veggies, so I thought having a cat food with more veggies and grains would be good. The older cat has been full of energy and I've never seen her more active. The younger cat is about the same, activity-wise, but has been throwing up maybe once a week. It could be because she's long-haired and I've been a bit lax in giving her the hairball prevention treats I usually give her, but I noticed that often it's food, not fur, that she's throwing up. So I'm not quite sure what to do, since it seems great for one cat and not so great for the other (and there is just no way to feed them different foods, trust me, I've tried!)

Denise  says:

I give my cat goodlife cat treat, chicken flavor, and he can't get enough of them. He loves them and has not been sick at all. He has been eating these treats for about a month and I just bought him another bag. If he showed the slightest sign of anything wrong I would stop giving it to him right away. I will not take a chance with my little guys health.

I bought this dog food for my mini schnauzer and she liked it alot. I like the brown rice and chicken since she is allergic to so many things. A day into it though she started drinking an ton of water and was really anxious at night, barking to go out which she never did before. I took her off of the food and then the recall came out and I started to wonder if there was a connection. I have asked for the ash content and sodium content, it just didn't seem normal.

Lynn  says:

My 4 dogs love The Good Life dry food and snacks. They wait in line to eat! Imagine! They range in ages 3 yrs to 12 yrs and are different breeds, flat coat retriever to Plott Hound to Mountain Feist/hound to Black Lab. He's the baby. I have never seen them eat any food as they eat this. The first night, I had to round up 3 more dog bowls to feed them as they were shoving each other out of the way to get to the food. The lab went to the BAG to try to eat. The heart shaped treats are great. They love them too and don't beg for 4 or 5 like with other treats. Two of those bones do the trick. Nothing in these foods indicate that they are contaminated with wheat gluten or rice protein powder. All natural foods.. smells great too. The flavor of the food is chicken, as they don't like the beef flavored dog foods.

Michelle  says:

My dog loved the beef but hated the chicken. Unfortunately, we had to switch to another food, as Good Life gave her the worst gas. She was going to the bathroom more and her stool color had also changed (no big deal). The fact that she had so much gas most likely meant her stomach hurt, so she's not on it anymore. Such a shame because she really liked it!

LOOK CAREFULLY! THE GOODLIFE RECIPE CAT FOOD  with real salmon or chicken, brown rice and garden greens CONTAINS WHEAT GLUTEN. It is listed right after Potassium Chloride. Those pet owners whose pets were/ are vomiting should REPORT this food to FDA's list to prevent other pets from dying. If no one does it, this food will be on the shelves until the first pet deaths reported. By the way, I can't find the website of this company. Anyone please post the link if the website exists.

They have a video presentation called "The Truth About Pet Foods" that will make your jaw drop.

You can get free samples on the site, but you have to pay shipping. I emailed the rep and she sent them to me for free. My dogs are thriving on the stuff. They love all the other products too.

I started my cats on The Good Life a few weeks ago and my 14 year has not had this much energy in years. It's like having a new cat in the house. My 3 year old has always been crazy. The older one though is throwing up a lot lately and it's food that she throws up. I just want to say I am very concerned about the dog food. I was so happy

when I found The Good Life Recipe. My lab and Shih tzu love it. I am concerned

about the ingredients though. The corn gluten is another problem so they say.

My dogs did start out getting sick but now they are fine and I think it was such

an abrupt change in food. I use to use Iams dry but I stopped. What are we suppose to do? I wish they can get a handle on this.

I Love Animals  says:

I am 'pet-food-experience' and let me tell ALL OF YOU! I feed my dog the GoodLife Recipe over Science Diet, and he does absolutely fine.

A DOG GETS SICK WHEN YOU IMMEDIATELY CHANGE THEIR FOOD!! AND IT IS BAD FOR THEIR BODY, AND MAY CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEMS!

You CANNOT immediately change a dog's diet...if you want to change their food, start out by mixing small amounts of each food, for example, if you feed the dog Science Diet and want to change to Goodlife, mix 3/4 Science Diet, and 1/4 Goodlife, then the next day, 1/2 of each, continue this for about a week...then give full amounts of the desired dog food.

If this process is not completed, your dog will get sick because it's body is not responding to the new diet! It doesn't mean its the brand of dog food's fault, its the way your dog reacts!

Great Comment I LOVE ANIMALS . . . My dog and cat both really like The Goodlife, especially the dog biscuits. There are very few, if any, Dry Foods that are included in the recall . . . mostly wet. If your dog throws it up, it's due to the immediate change of feeding, or feeding size. Make sure you slowly change feeding habits!

Before the Goodlife Recipe, I fed my dog Royal Canine, which is suppose to be one of the TOP quality foods in the industry, and he would throw it up once in a while! Not all dogs can tolerate all foods. Once you find one they will eat, stick to it. I also do mixed feeding with Cesar wet dog food. My dog loves it!

I think SOY is one of the main factors of excess gas in dogs and cats. I don't see any SOY in the ingredient listing. Good Luck!

In addition, I would also like to add that this product contains WHEAT FLOUR and the tainted proteins came into ChemNutra in wheat flour and not, as what was originally thought, wheat gluten.  So, this pet food should not be ruled out as the impetus for the symptoms we read about here.  The data presented above about this food is far too numerous to be random.  To imply this is caused by the transition of the diets, while the biggest scandal to hit the newswave is NOT being covered properly, is preposterous.

Shame on you, people, have some heart.  Do you work for the pet food manufacturers, or their affiliates and suppliers?  Because you sure sound like you do.

My 2 dogs were getting a mix of the Iams and the Beneful for a while. They were giving off an odd odor though, and we speculated that maybe it was the food so we switched. They are into their 3rd 40lb bag of Goodlife. We did the slow transition and everything was fine. They love the food and I even catch my cats eating it sometimes. But one of my dogs seems to be kinda sick. She has bright orange diarrhea. Also, my cats have thrown up orange food a couple times. So I'm a little concerned - which is what brought me to this website.

Judging by all the comments I read, the recurring theme is that the animals love the taste of it, but it might not be so good for them.

A friend gave me a bag of Goodlife because one of her 3 lhasa's got a little sick from it. It was the girl dog, who my friend says is very picky.  Anyway my little poodle hasn't been sick, seems to like it just fine (although he will eat about anything - including apples and broccoli at times!!!).  However, I think he has gained a pound or two in the past month that he has been eating Goodlife. I am concerned about his weight because he is only 12 lbs to begin with. If he gets any bigger I am going back to Beneful> used to always buy him Iams but I'm on a tighter budget right now. Sometimes I drain my tuna cans on top of his food for a kind of gravy!!! he loves it. Bye, thanks for the info.

Pam, The corn in the diet is causing weight gain. Your dog is getting the calories he needs but not the nutrients. The three brands you mention are not good for your dog. All three have been responsible for many pet deaths. Please reconsider what you are feeding your loved one. Look for a 10/10 rating score. Anything less than a 10/10 could be deadly.

I bought this for my Mini Schnauzer once he switch from puppy food to adult. I read the ingredients thinking it was healthy. A big lump appeared on his left hip. I took him to the vet thinking he had a tumor. The vet did a biopsy and it was just fat cells. He gained about 2 lbs in 2 months. I'm putting him back on Eukanuba. The Good Life is not a healthy alternative. The vet suggests sticking with Iams, Eukanuba or Science Diet. My dog is extremely active and goes to Daycare everyday and plays all day with other dogs. He's perpetual motion and just won't stop until he gets home at night and crashes from total exhaustion. I could understand weight gain if he was inactive, but this is not the case.

I have a 1 year old very picky Black Lab and a 1 year old German Shepherd mix who will eat about anything. I am on my second bag of The Good Life and so far the Lab is eating it like crazy. He is a bit underweight and we have noticed that he is starting to gain a bit more since he enjoys the food so much. Our German Shepherd has not had a problem with her dry skin since we switched over to this food, she is also starting to loose weight becuase she is not eating as much of it and the fat content is lower than our previous food. We have tried nearly every "top" dog food such a Diamond, Neutro, Chicken Soup, and have even made home made dog food. This is the first time our picky lab has been really excited about eating. I love my dogs, they are my children and I think it is crazy how some people get so twisted about what people feed their dogs. If you can afford 100 dollars a bag and it is the best thing on the planet for your dogs, then good for you! Most people cannot afford the expensive high end dog food but that does not mean they should be talked to as if they don't care about their animals. Just becuase all you can afford is Wal-Mart or even Sams club dog food, does not make you any less of a pet owner or person, so don't let these dog food snobs get you down. If your dog has normal stool samples when you go to the vet, normal blood work, is happy, active, and deemed healthy by your vet then that is all that matters. Dogs have lived years and years without having high end top of the line dog food.

For the dog food snobs out there, why dont you try going to the store. Buy yourself some human baby food and compare it to the "evil cheap" dog food and tell me what you see.... Ah, YES! The DOG FOOD has MORE nutrition in it than what we feed OUR CHILDREN! The puppy foods have even more nutrition! Now it appears to me that we need to focus more on what PEOPLE eat because our dogs are just fine now that the recall is done and overwith. Just know that nearly all of these high end dog foods were on the SAME recall list as the ones you can buy at your local Wal-Mart... So what does that say?....As long as my dogs are happy and healthy and enjoy their food, I am not going to loose sleep at night.

Sherry,

I'm afraid the folks at Goodlife aren't real clear on the amount of sodium used. When this product first came out I wrote to the company asking for a list of ingredients in their pet food and they sent me to their web page for a "made up" list but on an ingredient list. I've not had much luck in getting information from this company. You may wish to contact them at http://www.goodliferecipe.com/contactus.aspx

We purchased this stuff a week ago. My snoodle has started vomiting, bloody stool, and won't play at all. Also, she has this terrible gas. We got it from Walmart, but when I called they wouldn't take it back, not even with a receipt! They said they didn't have it on their recall list. Needless to say, we'll be contacting the company.

April,

I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I hope, by now, you have pulled him off all this "great" food which is on the market and joined up with the rest of us who are stomping our feet about the piss-poor quality dog food they are selling to us. You should be able to get a full refund for a product you don't care for!

Just wanted you to know we discovered Goodlife by chance and decided to try it. After all the different dry foods I've given Brindle, it is the only one I didn't have to doctor w/can or throw out after a day. He goobles it up entirely. Even the cats are enjoying Goodlife even getting into the dog's when they are low. I have not seen any discomfort in any of them.

commercial dog and cat food was made by companies around the 1950's for the convienince of the consumer (quicker and faster). What did we feed our pets before all this crap was made? Animals were fed table scraps or just raw foods. Since the implementation of commercial foods there have been more reported cases of animal diseases than ever before. I feed my animals a raw food diet and they flourish from it. This is the same problems human beings are having with food as well. Companies are adding more and more fillers, sugar, salt, fat and so on just to save money and make more of a profit. And we as people are seeing more and more diseases that were not as bad as they are nowdays.

Mary Lou,

Goodlife counts on people who like their products. Be aware the company has added contents to this food to make the pets want to eat it. The only two good things about this product is they didn't add soy or manure to their mix. The Goodlife doesn't have good stuff in it they just left out some of the bad stuff to get the three little points they received in this review.

I wish you and your pets the best,

Susan

Susan,

Since I put my dog on this food she has two growths one her rib and one on her arm. She acts like she's dying and her stomache is upset all the time. She is gaining weight even with her Thyroid meds. I was really hoping this was a good product. After reading this I will take her off it! They shouldn't be advertising that it's healthy! Thank you for this information! Hugs, Linda

Help,

The more I raed the more confused I get.

I just lost my 7 yr old golden to lymfoma (cancer),I think it was the food.I use to mix alpo can meat with nuto large breed.Prior to that I lost another Golden to cancer at age 9.same food.

After the food recall I have read more conflicting testimoy from pet owners vets and food manufactuers.I dont think any one has all the answers.

I have decided to go with Innova Meat/Veg formula for my new 8wk old Golden, who will arrive from Wyoming 10/31/2007.

I beleive God gave us these pets for love and enjoyment, but they come with the ultimate price.stewardship !

If I am wrong in choosing Innova. by all means, let me know in this forum.

Thnak You and Thank God for the Animals

I started feeding my dogs The Good Life about a week ago, the young one is fine, however, my 13 year old dachshund got terribly sick, her kidneys failed and she wouldn't eat or drink and she died this morning. I am convinced it is the Good Life dry dog food I bought at WalMart. I threw the rest of the bag away and am thankful the 8 month old is not sick.

Lil,

Be sure that The Goodlife you threw away is not to where any other pet can get to it. Treat this pet food as you would any poison and safeguard the other animals.

My dog has been eating GoodLife for about 2-3 months and has never had any problems. Although I can't deny it might not be the healthiest food, it's the first time I can get her to eat dry food alone. Maybe I'll try something else next time.

I wish that I had read this website before feeding my pets Goodlife dogfood. Their life (and ours) have been a mess since we switched to this.

We gave Goodlife (dry dog food) to our 3 dogs last weeked. They love the food. However my 8-yr old Toller seems to be sick and has diarrhea. The other two become very gasy and their stool seems soft and stinky. Their problems have been worsen, so we have stopped and switched back to their old dog food.

I think this bag's lot number is 718fkkkmd 09:21

Since some dogs got sick yet others seem to be fine, the problem could be from bad manufacture practice so they periodically make bad lots of dog food.

John,

Sounds to me you and your dogs got lucky that you discovered The Goodlife is not a good food for your pets in time to switch foods.

Check the labels. No Corn, Wheat, or Soy in a cat or dog's diet. These grains are toxic to pets and will kill them.

When I first started feeding my cats the goodlife for cats they at first had diarrhea but after awhile became used to it and they don't do it anymore. It could be if you go from one food that they've been fed for a long time to suddenly another without mixing the new food in slowly, then that could contribute to the diarrhea also.

Shannon,

Switching foods a little at a time is a good idea. If the food a person is currently feeding contains corn, wheat, or soy DON'T change foods slowly. Change foods as soon as possible!

Hi all.

Tomatoes are toxic to dogs, and goodlife brags that it contains tomatoes! What stupidity, ignorance and irresponsibility! It all needs to be recalled and they need to withdraw their advert. A public apology would be nice, but is too much to hope for...

I'm doing a project for school. I get to spend 1000000 dollars. I'm going to open a dog resccue center. I need the food. How much does goodlife recipe cost?

Willow,

You should look into a better pet food for your rescue center for The Goodlife recipe has been killing far too many pets. Be sure a choose a pet food with healthy ingredients which do not include corn, wheat, or rice. Here is a great link for learning the ingredients and the costs of different pet food products.

Looks like consumers have a lot of misinformation. Tomotoes aren't toxic for dogs. Chocolate, grapes, and garlic are known for being toxic for dogs, but not tomatoes!

Also, you should know, there is corn and wheat and rice that is a healthy part of a dogs diet. Not all types of corn . . . the challenge is to understand what to look for, and not to scare all consumers by saying all corn, all wheat and all rice is bad!

You are right that chocolate, grapes, and garlic are toxic to pets. Of course, you know my thoughts on the corn, wheat, and soy.

I've always switched my dog's food without any problems. I tried that mixing thing and she got sick. If I get the same food twice in a row, she won't eat it. She's a Collie, a breed notorious for stomache problems, and she loved this food. I'm short on cash right now, so I've had to stick with the cheap stuff. If she starts getting sick as described above, then I'll just make her a big batch of Brown rice and veggies (her favorite) until I can find something else. Anyone know a good dog food recipe site I can go to?

I have to agree with the other comments; our 13 year daschund loved The Good Life dog food. I boutht the chicken and the beef flavor. We just have the food out for her to eat in between meals and lucky for us she hasn't eaten that much but when she has eaten it she has gotten diarrhea. After reading the rest of the comments I know for certain now that I'm getting rid of if as soon as possible. Thanks!!

I gave my chihuahua 1 Goodlife dog treat and she had diarrhea for over 24 hours. I will never buy any thing from Good Life again.
