Review of the Grand Baja All Suite Resort
The following is David's professional opinion from a recent hotel inspection.
Ambiance-Very peaceful and quiet was the feeling I got upon arrival. I wanted to see this resort since they have up to three bedroom units which is great for larger families. I am very glad I made the time. The day I was there, a famous Mexican singer and their entourage were there. If it is good enough for the rich and famous, it is good enough for me!
Beach-The beach is large, great for a stroll and getting your feet wet. Swimming in the ocean is hit or miss depending on the undertow.
Charges (extra) - Spa treatments would be extra.
Distances- 15 minutes from the airport and only 5 minutes from San Jose del Cabo. About a 30 minute cab ride into Cabo San Lucas.
Entertainment on Property -This is a very quiet resort, you will not see a lot of razzle dazzle here .
Fitness Area - I have to say they had one of the largest well equipped fitness centers of any resort in Los Cabos. From every machine you could imagine to free weights.
Food- 3 restaurants serving International, Italian and Mexican cuisine. Technically this is not an all-inclusive resort but they have a meal plan that will rival any all-inclusive. The nice thing is you can do the meal plan for some of your stay and savor some of the local restaurants for the other part of your stay. Most resorts are all or none. They also have a small deli on site.
Getting Around- You can walk to San Jose del Cabo, approximate 15-20 minute walk. You can either take a cab or ride the public bus into Cabos San Lucas. The bus is a bargain at $2 each way.
Internet Access -There is an hourly charge for internet access. You have wireless access in the Chula Vista restaurant. They do have plans to bring in wireless to the rooms since there is such a demand.
Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner.
Kids-They have what they call Nicoles Kids Club for ages 4-12. Trained staff provides age appropriate activities for the kids.
Little Known fact - This is a locally owned Mexican Resort so you know they pay attention to their guests.
Medical Services-On call medical services.
Negatives- The same as with most resorts in Los Cabos, non swim able beach at times
Nightlife- No formal entertainment on the resort but plenty of nightlife in town.
Opportunities-One of the few places a family of 5 to 8 can vacation comfortably.
Pool-One of the more unique pools that wraps around the whole back of the resort.
Protection-In room safe.
Recreation-Golf and deep sea fishing rule in Los Cabos. They also have a tennis court and access to snorkeling, zip line and ATV tours. You can also swim with the Dolphins in Cabo.
Rooms- This is where this resort stands out. Most of the rooms are one and two bedrooms with ocean views. There are also some three bedroom units. All have their own kitchens, dining area and full size refrigerators. The resort is only three years old so everything is like new.
Shopping-Small gift shop on property. Plenty of shopping downtown.
Spa-Very unique with the outdoor stations and table for massages.
Terrain-A small resort so it is not a long walk to get anywhere within the grounds.
Updates-There is construction of a new property next door.
View-Excellent views of the ocean from the rooms.
Weather-Warm and dry all year. They do get more rain in September and October. This is a great choice if you normally vacation in July or August to avoid the Monsoons and hurricanes. Los Cabos is actually very dry and arid. The best way to describe it is like putting Arizona on a beach.
WOW Factor-The rooms are what makes this resort stand out plus the flexible meal plan. Great for families and couples who want more than just a room.
X-Y-Z-I was pleased with what I saw. This is a nice quiet resort, no hype just lots of space and great amenities. They are also one of the few resorts that offer a hospitality suite to freshen up if you flight leaves late in the day.
