The Kevin Trudeau Weight Loss Scam
70You may have seen Kevin Trudeau's ‘amazing' weight loss plan on infomercials recently, along with his book The Weight Loss Cure and Natural Cures ‘They' Don't Want You to Know About. While both offer a fresh perspective on dieting and weight loss, neither of them have been supported by researchers, doctors, and scientists. According to Trudeau, the drug industry doesn't want anyone to actually be healthy, and the multi-billion dollar weight loss industry is a testament to this fact. Although Trudeau does not have formal credentials as a nutritionist, his book is heavily focused on ‘explaining' nutrition to his readers, and encouraging people to think that the food industry is purposely adding fat, additives, and other harmful chemicals to food products to keep people addicted to a dangerous cycle.
Trudeau covers many of his theories in an infomercial that encourages purchasing his two books, and receiving free gifts and other items. In Natural Cures ‘They' Don't Want You to Know About, Trudeau explains that even overweight and obese people can lose weight (using his plan) without being hungry, resorting to surgery, or even exercising more. His secret lies in ‘conditioning' the body to respond to certain types of food, along with eating an organic diet, taking regular colonics, flushing toxins out of the body with saunas, and taking a variety of minerals, herbal supplements, and nutritional aids-all of these are conveniently available on Trudeau's website. The elimination of junk and processed foods is the most important part of this plan, and
The book is divided into ‘phases' for weight loss, beginning with common sense approaches such as eating salads, staying away from artificial sweeteners, and avoiding excess sugar and soda. Trudeau also encourages get a colonic every other day to remove waste and toxins from the system, as well as taking herbal supplements to support the body's natural processes. He encourages using a sauna and plenty of sunshine, ,a nd reducing stress in the environment with relaxation CDs and other tools.
Other phases of the diet plan encourage eating organic foods as often as possible, and learning how to fuel up a slow metabolism with herbal teas and supplements. Overall, the plan is very similar to a healthy eating plan, except with the addition of Trudeau-supported supplements, and additional books. In The Weight Loss Cure, Trudeau even encourages taking hCG injections to boost the metabolism and encourage weight loss.
The scam itself lies in the marketing and promotion of the book and Trudeau's philosophy; thousands of desperate dieters have purchased the book after watching Trudeau's persuasive presentation on screen, only to realize that the book is mostly filled with ‘fluff' and unsupported scientific theories. In fact, a quick look at the Amazon.com tags that customers associate with this product reveal: rip off, quackery, fraud, con man, hoax, total bs, liar, and even dangerous.
Bottom line: Trudeau simply offers yet another spin on the weight loss dilemma that millions of Americans face, and encourages followers to continue buying his supplements, books, and buying into his revolutionary theory with limited proof. Weight loss is a natural process that can be achieved by reducing calories from the diet, eliminating junk and processed foods, eating nutritious foods instead, and exercising regularly.

If I recall wasn't it Kevin Trudeu, who a few years back was pushing the Atkins diet & how wonderful that was? And now he's an expert on Cures????? I see Red Flags on this one!!!
After my own research and my doctors help...I have done the protocol..I have lost 47 lbs in the 40 days alloted....I was always hungry...ALWAYS and it made no sense. My doctor said my past lifestyle choices ( I'll leave it at that) probably did screw up my hypothalamus therby sending signals to my brain to eat eat eat....Without the HCG you will of course lose weight but the hypothalamus will not reset therby fixing the inappropriate signals to the brain to abnormally eat...you will gain the weight back.....Now after doing the protocol with the actual HCG injections I have lost 47 lbs and that crazy hunger for no reason IS GONE!! I am satisfied with typical meals and normal portions..and let me tell you..I could eat a mountain of food prior to this protocol..(it does not hurt AT ALL- the needles are the size of insulin needles-I never once felt it go in) (yeah your hungry on the diet for maybe 3 days or so and after that your fine)
So guys, say what you want about this man Kevin Trudeu - is he a scammer? or totally into making money with unheard of info? thats your opinion....but all I know is Im alive-much healthier-look much younger-full of energy-I do not snore anymore ( so it has saved my marriage-lol) my blood pressure is down - cholesterol is down etc etc...So my advice is do your own research and if you feel comfortable doing this you will be glad you did.....
Kevin- I thought you were a scammer for a long time--but you literally have saved my life -- now go write so more books........
Rich has got the right idea. you have to do your own research.the protocol is going to be difficult because you have to eat organically and sensably which is too hard for the "average fat lazy american" to do consistently. all of the protocol except for the HCG is a holistic/natural way to do things and makes good common sense. I for one am glad to know about the HCG protocol and I think it will make a huge difference to those of us willing to go the whole way through the system.
I think Kevin Trudeau should at least tell you how much money it's going to cost you. He says everything is in the book but you have to go to the doctor and get the HCG. The way he talks it is all in the book it is not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Total fraud. The original studies were done on A 500 CALORIE A DAY DIET......the fact that people are using HCG, which has potentially serious lifelong health consequences, shows how many idiots there are out there.
Sensible eating + moderate exercise will get your further than this pseduoscience bulls%^t.
If Kevin is making feel stupid, I must admit that I am glad, as horrible as that sounds. He is THE only 'guru' out there talking about the stupidity of highly commercialized gurus and diet fads, and I am glad he is doing it. I have not done the hCg injections protocol, but I stand behind his recommendations from the original natural cures book 100%. As a health professional, I believe that these are the only true ways to lose weight and anyone looking for a miracle 'pill' should get a clue.
I created a HubPage that has both sides of the argument, backed by facts, at:

i think people should be able to take action against someone like kevin when he lies and fails to tell you the whole story. maybe the tv, companies and sponsers should be held accountable also.
