Because of the status of Star Wars and its amazing visuals for its time, it is easy to overlook the fact this film really had some entertaining quotes. It is interesting to note how many of those lines were written for Harrison Ford's portrayal of the wisecracking Han Solo. Many fans have noted just now much the Han Solo character added that seemed to be missing in the prequel series.

Although the characters introduced in the first Star Wars, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2, continued their adventures in two sequels, the film that introduced them seemed to gave a certain weight to their dialogue, and the conflicts between the various characters, amplified by their fast-paced adventures, produced some truly funny and quotable moments.

Of course, honorable mention must go to The Empire Strikes Back for Darth Vader's signature line.
