Squidoo "lenses" Loosing Value for SEO

There is alot of talk right now about Squidoo loosing favor with the G because of the large number of spam lenses. This will ultimatly force the spammers to find other avenues. I have seen references of people abandoning Squidoo to start using Hubpages for their blackhat techniques.

I have utilized Squdoo for creating backlinks to my sites and have started using Hubpages for the same purposes. There is a diference though between what I do and what is penalizing Squidoo lenses, because of spam. To keep your pages and lenses ranking well the must provide meaningful content. Not just keyword rich diatribe, which has caused the problems with Squidoo.

Here are mmy sugestions if you are using Squidoo and Hubpages for affiliate marketing and SEO techechniques,

  • Don't Spam Like I mentioned above provide meaningful content,
  • Create back links to your individual pages/lenses as well as your main sites
  • Don't go overboard. Don't create several hundred pages around a handful of keywords. Creating alot of pages around different keywords about the same main topic should be ok. ie Tons of pages about "dogs" is spam. However two or three pages about a specific breed of dogs would not be spam if the individual pages were different and on different topics. You could create severl pages like the tempramnet of collies, caring for a collie, unusual facts about collies, famous collies etc. Each page providing different information about collies would not be spam.
  • Whe creating outbound links don't link just to your sites.

I will provide more lenses in the next few days on how to avoid the problems, for now though I must be off...

Cheers...
