Flickering 3 red lights quick fix

If you have a Xbox360 which currently is flickering 3 red lights try this :

Wrap your 360 in a towel (completely covered), turned on the system for about 10 minutes or more (not too long), turned it off, then back on again and your system should worked again!

The fuck is wrong with you just let people sell their broken 360 to a idiot and let them wait for the redesign which will have a cooler CPU to prevent this from every happening again.

Ok, seriously, i thought this was a bunch of crap when I read it, but i just did it , and it works...i wrapped it and then turned it on, and the lights went green...but the screen froze and went blank.....so i turned it off again, and let it cool some more....lo and behold , fully functional xbox 360...will post again to let you guys know how long it lasts, and if it works a second time.

it works, but it's not permanent. It only re-heats the solder that MS used so that there could be a connection. however, the solder will soon crack and heating it again wont work, it has to be re-soldered

I heard you have to wait til the 3 lights become 2 lights then you let it cool. I tried it but it took 40 mins for the lights to become 2 and i let it cool. I tried it twice but I know it works because of other people. Anyone got any hints to do it better

@snow11To fix it for good, the "homemade" solution would be to open your console and do some soldering. However, the BEST solution is always to take your console back to Microsoft to get a free one. Thanks to the warranty. Microsoft expended their warranty for this problem.Good luck !

Yeah i did it about an hour ago to make my girl happy she was gonna have to break out the little plastic card to buy a new. It did work booted it with no problems. A few hints.. Wrap in 3 toys while its on and three red lights are on let that sucker cook for about 20 minutes turn it off and then back on remember 3 red lights = general fault may not be the soldering on yours So turn it off and back on dont wait for it to cool. If its green and starts then turn it off and leave it be so it can cool if its still red you got another problem sorry. But this does work i tried it laughing to myself the whole time thinking how stuid i was was even trying so a dumb idea. But now im able to play again so thats great no idea how long it last ive heard from 5 minutes to 5 hours to a week to 3 months sho who knows.

turns out you can only do this trick about 4 or 5 times before the Xbox catches fire;-)

0mg wtf

i tought dis waz sum internet BS, but my 360 had the 3 lights of death so i said fuck it...

and i did it and tha shit works lol

The Reason  says:

I've sent my 360 to microsoft, they didnt fix it cuz I had opened it 6 months ago for 'research' ... So I've done everything from the towel trick to the 12 cent fix, to the 8 cent fix, and they all work temporarily...

It sucks cuz I told them over the phone I had opened it and they said they'd still fix it. But they didn't. It's not modded either. (i didn't have sata capabilities). So for the skeptics, yes, the towel trick works sometimes. Just, if you get it working for a few hours, leave that fucker on as long as your budget allows for the power bill to keep it from failing on you again, which it will.

I'm so pissed.

The towel trick is only a temporary trick and doesnt fix it permanently go here to learn how to fix the 3 red light error http://xbox-360-repair-guide-ebook.blogspot.com/20

greg  says:

it does work.all you have to do is overheat it untill it cuts off and shows two red lights. next you turn it off and let it cool. then it should work. not permenant though

omndeus  says:

Kade   says:

Hey there that technique is only temporary and doesnt really fix that problem goto http://how-to-fix-xbox-360-problems.blogspot.com/ ti find a permanent solution

AceXboxCooker  says:

I was skeptical about this fix, essentially identifying it as a hoax, after research it seemed many people have had luck with the fix. I tried it this morning, my xbox is cooling down right now after the towel heating, but i did start it up breifly and it was working, good luck, its not bull

The Reason  says:

My 360 is still running strong, but I've yet to do so much as even MOVE it from the spot it's been sitting in for months now.

Ok.. well... i have recently got this red light and i did it... i have been doing it for about three weeks now everyday... what i have learned is that the more you do this the xbox will be damaged forever.... i believe people will have better luck if they just go out and buy a new one...

bluemimmosa  says:

skeptic  says:

im not so sure the xbox is a electrical item with circuits and overheating them should damage them severely

any comments to help make it easier to stick my box in the towel of a microwave

falcon9du5w0  says:

It worked for me too do you guys know how long it will last and if xbox will still repair my 360

jordan  says:

im doin it as we speek but if i turn it back on straight after havin it on for 10 minutes dont u think its overheated?

TimingThunder  says:

I also tried it on my xbox 360 elite, but it worked for a while, as soon as I start to play the game, xbox would froze and three rings of death would appear again.

I ve tried it many times and problem is still there.

I recommend to all xbox360 owners to send back their consoles with three rings of death to the microsoft Co. Let them deal with it.

thnx and good luck all/.......
