Men's clothing in San Francisco

San Francisco is well-stocked with a range of general clothing stores selling to men and women, as well as shops catering to men only. Where you shop, of course, depends on a number of factors, including styles and budget. You have your pick of the standard chain stores, from the Gap and American Eagle Outfitters to Brooks Brothers, Armani, and others. If you're just looking for basic ready-to-wear, start at the Macy's men's store in Union Square and work outward from there. If you are limited on timeand want something more hip, young, and unique, just wander around some of the livelier neighborhoods, the Castro, Hayes Valley, the Haight, the Mission (all of which you should be able to cram in to a long shopping day or two).

Here are a few that I have found to be of interest, mainly to the younger men in my family, but occasionally you can find something quite nice for any age.

HRM Boutique - traditional, high-quality, in the Mission

Manifesto - mostly women's but does sell some men's clothes

Rolo - hip, in the Castro and SOMA

Kweejibo Clothing - Indie designed shirts, in the Haight

Rag: Residents Apparel Gallery - Indie co-op, in Hayes Valley

The Archive - European, upscale, near Union Square

Nomads - hipster, in Hayes Valley

Barcelino - Italian, suits, traditional, several locations
