Teacup Rides and More at Dutch Wonderland

Dutch Wonderland is a fairly reasonable kids' amusement park located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. For people who plan to visit three or more times, the $99.95 per person season pass makes sense, since it is a big savings over the $30.95 single day admission price.

Kids can enjoy rides, take in shows like Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, talk with a princess and play a round of miniature golf. As a child, I thought this place was magical and consider it a nice alternative to Disney World for those who aren't close to Florida or another Disney location. It also is great for those who find an enormous amusement park overwhelming.

Dutch Wonderland is in Pennsylvania Dutch country and, although things have really gotten commercialized over the past few years, it is nice to drive through the area as you go to and from the park. There are also many local things to do, such as exploring museums and browsing through all the gift and antique shops.

Flintstones Bedrock City in Arizona

Families looking for cheap entertainment on the way to the Grand Canyon will find a very budget friendly theme park nearby. The Flintstones Bedrock City is a very cute idea and has a lot of kid appeal.

The kids had a blast there and didn't want to leave. There was a great little ride that involved a "volcano" and a dinosaur with a tail for the kids to slide down. The different characters' houses were furnished inside.

And the price? $5 including a hot dog and drink. I think The Flintstones Bedrock City is probably the cheapest kids' theme park in America! I wish they'd actually raise admission a dollar, though. They could use the additional revenue to do a bit of work on the park, which could use a bit of updating. It wasn't very clean when our family went and we used a lot of wipes after we were done our visit.

Other attractions include a campground, a gift shop and a diner. The coffee in the diner was only 5 cents, but the rest of the menu had average diner prices.

How to Find Cheap Amusement Park Tickets

If you have your heart set on a fairly expensive amusement park for kids, visiting even the nicest budget friendly theme park may be a bit disappointing for you. In this case, you'd be better off hunting down discount tickets to save money on that pricey admission and heading off to the park of your dreams.

One place to find cheap tickets is your local grocery store. I see discount offers for Hershey Park, Dutch Wonderland and other nearby amusement venues several times a year at the stores I frequent. For example, at the moment, Martin's is offering $11 off Hershey Park tickets when customers buy their tickets in the store.

Another way to get discounted admission to amusement parks is to check with your employer's human resources department. Many times, local parks will offer them the chance to pay group admission for a block of tickets.

A final way to shop for kids' fun park tickets is to check with schools. My college offered students discounted tickets for almost all the local attractions.
