Fat burners and metabolic enhancers are some of the most widely used weight loss supplements on the market, and most contain a significant amount of stimulants such as caffeine, synephrine, guarana and other herbal extracts that provide energy.

Thermodrine is just one of the hundreds of formulas available over the counter; the supplement is made by BioTech USA but goes by a different name - Xenadrine - in some parts of the world. If you've found Thermodrine in its original packaging, you may have purchased it from an overseas vendor; otherwise, the formula you bought in the U.S. is Xenadrine with similar ingredients.

These supplements are more powerful than most other diet pills on the market, and are often stacked with caffeine and ephedra for an extra ‘boost'. If you're considering taking either form of this supplement, there are some important health concerns to keep in mind:

Key Ingredients in Thermodrine

Thermodrine is made with a proprietary blend of metabolism-enhancing ingredients such as:

• Bitter Orange extract

• Guarana extract

• White Willow Bark

• Ginger Root

• L-Tyrosine

• L-Carnitine

• L-Fisetin

• DMAE

L-Tyrosine, L-Carnitine, L-Fiestin and DMAE make up the proprietary blend of thermogenics that can boost the metabolism and switch the body into ‘fat burning mode' more easily than diet and exercise alone. These supplements are commonly used by bodybuilders and athletes for quick weight loss, and do offer some benefits; however, they need to be taken in conjunction with a healthy diet so that they can be absorbed more easily.

Bitter orange extract is the stimulant in Thermodrine, and has been linked to suppressing the appetite and enhancing the metabolism. After the FDA ban on ephedra, many diet pill manufacturers switched over to bitter orange extract to boost the metabolism in a similar way. Still, this extract is not without its side effects and people who are sensitive to caffeine may experience adverse side effects.

Guarana extract is an herbal stimulant that has also been linked to burning fat. The compound boosts the effect of bitter orange extract, and is now found in many ‘all natural' supplements on the market.

Ginger root works as an appetite suppressant, and is often found in herbal weight loss supplements. However, there is not enough evidence available to suggest the 25 mg of this extract is enough to suppress the appetite

Potential Side Effects of Thermodrine

Thermogenics are a popular choice for dieters, bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts today primarily for their energy-enhancing effects. Still, many of these pills may have side effects such as:

• Elevated heart rate

• Rapid breathing or shortness of breath

• Dizzyness

• Nausea

• Upset stomach

• Constipation

• Anxiety

• Irritability

• Insomnia

Bottom Line: Thermodrine is a fairly powerful energy enhancer, and may not be a good match for those who are already sensitive to caffeine or stimulants. The proprietary blend may help some people lose weight initially, but long-term weight loss can only be achieved with a healthy eating plan and consistent exercise routine.

Thermodrine is just one of the hundreds of thermogenics available on the market, but has not been approved by the FDA and may be too powerful for some.
