Young or old, I am sure all of you have heard this saying, "These Boots Are Made For Walkin," Nancy Sinatra's 1966 hit! Before Go Go Boots, which Nancy's song promoted, the ordinary boots purpose was to be worn in bad weather, rugged conditions or horseback riding, but never as an everyday shoe.

Once the Go Go Boot made its debut in 1964, created by André Courrèges, a french designer, practically every woman had to have a pair in her closet. Andre's original design, was a white plastic, calf high boot with a low heel. From there other designers created their own version of Go Go Boots. The higher the hem line got the higher the heel and height of the boot. But by the mid 70's the Go Go Boot faded out and the Platform Boot made its debut!

Platform boots were worn by men, women, rock stars and celebrities. But they were short lived and when the 70's were gone so were the platforms.

The 1980's brought the Dr. Martens , motorcycle boots and combat boots along with the Punk era. The boots were adorned with items such as bandanas, studs, or leather, and worn with torn dirty jeans and short leather skirts with chains. Quite the fashion statement!

By the 1880's the cowboy boot became a style all it's own! The styles of the cowboy boot changed with the times, along with the colors, stitiching, inlays and of course the accessory of the spurs. The cowboy boot also has different regional styles, there is a difference between the boots worn in the north and the ones you may see in Texas.

Ugg Boots have been around in Austraila for the past 200 years. Made of sheep skin the boots were called Ug, Ugh Or Ugg, way before the actual trade mark. In Aussie Slang, these words were short for "ugly". (I can see why, because when I actually saw them, I thought the same thing!) Astonishing enough, these boots can be worn year round. The fibers of the fleece lining has the ability to trap your body heat, thereby keeping your feet warm. In the heat, the fibers of the fleece has a way of wicking away the perspiration, thereby keeping your feet cool. But the secret to year round fashion is to buy the Uggs made of sheepskin only, no other lining is able to produce the same effects.
