Things You Should Consider Before Buying Your First Straight Razor
63
So you think you are ready to step into the big leagues of shaving? Many men who have been shaving for awhile have decided to try to do it the way their grandfather did it known as straight razor shaving. I will tell you it is the closest shave you will ever get. But before you just go buying what ever here are a few things to look over first.
First you have a choice of either classic, replaceable, or disposable blades. The last two are easy but if you choose the first one there will be some up keep of the razor in order to keep it ready for use. It will need to be stropped and honed which is the process of keeping it sharp.
Next you will need to choose a handle for your new blade. Straight razors come with almost any handle you can think of. So many times personal style plays a big part here. But be careful if the handle does not feel right in your hand it could increase the possibility of cutting yourself.
Once you have got the right blade and handle for you inspect any product you receive for imperfections in the blade. The smallest nick or chip will cause you to cut your face. Return any chipped or nicked blades.
