SURF SURF SURF
THE number one thing to do in Tamarindo is surfing. Tamarindo is one of the best surf destinations, a great place to use as base to explore a wide variety of surf breaks within a short distance. The making of the classic film, “Endless Summer II” made Tamarindo and the surrounding area famous and it became one of the most popular destinations for surfing in Costa Rica. Long sandy beaches and warm water are an ideal environment for experienced surfers as well as beginner surfers.
Learn how to ride your first wave!
There are beginner surf lessons up to 4 times a day for about $40 for a 2 hour session. You can take a lesson in a group of 4 or even private, a 1 on 1 surf session with your instructor. It is guaranteed you will stand up and ride your first waves in just one lesson. It all starts with a 15 min instruction on the beach. You will learn how to handle your boards in the water, how to find the best position on you board to stand up and some safety tips. Then you are off into the water and start surfing!
As you advance you can start exploring the surrounding beaches like Avellanas, Negra, Grande all within a 30 min. ride. Surfboards are for rent everywhere, the only thing you can not forget when renting a surfboard is your credit card or passport. Most surf shops in Tamarindo will need some kind of a deposit.
You will find a great selection of short boards, hybrid boards, boogie boards and long boards. All rentals are epoxy, fiberglass or softops for beginners, from 5’6” fish to 12’0” longboards. you can rent by the hour, half-day, full-day, multiple- days and weekly.

Starting at 8, you will be taken up North in a nice motorboat for about 20 minutes to your first snorkel spot. All the snorkel gear is on board you don't have to bring anything except your bathing suits, a towel and a good mood. You can see dolphins, puffer fish, trigger fish, rays and a lot more. The guides will be more than happy to show it all to you. Drinks and little snacks will be available on board.

SNORKEL - SAIL - SUNSET ADVENTURE
At 1:30 pm every day, 3 different sail boats will set sail and take you on an amazing trip to one of the secluded beaches and snorkel spots.
All the boats have an open bar and food available for their guests. This is the number 1 tour in Tamarindo! You have it all in just one trip, 2 hours of snorkeling and 3 hours of sailing. The crew will serve you drinks and lunch on their way back while you enjoy the most beautiful sunset. You will be sailing back to Tamarindo bay as the sun sets so don't forget your camera's!
Please know that the crews on these boats mostly have a basic salary and depend on your kindness so if you enjoyed your trip, give them a nice tip. It will be appreciated!
