Things you can do to manage Tinnitus

" Tinitus " is unpopular
Millions of Americans and people around the world are sufferers of tinnitus but only a few of them actually know that it's even called tinnitus. Most of them just refer to it as "Ringing in ears". In fact a lot of people who knows that they do have it often misspell it as " Tinitus ", a clear sign of unfamiliarity with this condition.
If you happen to land on this page without knowing what a Tinnitus or Tinitus (as others spell it) is, It's the disease of the ear. It's the constant irritating beeping or hissing noise in the ear. Some people only hear it when it's quiet but there are Tinnitus sufferers who hear it even when it's noisy. They can hear it when walking at a busy street or even while trying to shop in a mall. Can you imagine how disturbing that can be?
CAUSE
Some Doctors say it's caused by ear infection or enty of foreign object in the ear. Others say that it's caused by the ill effects of other preventive drugs for other medical conditions. Some Tinitus sufferers got it from attending concerts and/or working in a factory/airport where too much noice is present. If you're exposed to beyond normal decibel of sound, it's most likely to damage your ears.
I've had this condition since year 2000 but I didn't really know that it's something that I should be worried about. I didn't even know that it's called tinnitus just like other people who have it. So when it was getting intolerable, I decided to seek professional help. I went out to consult with a doctor.
When I was at the clinic, He said that at this time, there's no cure for tinitus yet. The news didn't really surprised me though as I had been researching the web before I went to the hospital. The two things he suggested is that I take some Vitamin B and find a day job ( I'm on night shift).
Things you can do to control Tinnitus.
So I went back to google again and here are the things that WORKED for me, that of course may work for you too.
1. Exercise - There are studies that it can lessen the ringing in ear because of the good blood circulation that you can get from exercise. I'm not sure how you want to do it, you may want to enroll in a fitness club or you may just want to buy some jumping ropes and do it at home. What I did was I boxed twice a week in a local boxing gym and it worked well for me.
2. Get enough time of sleep. I notice that the ringing is not as loud as it usually is during weeks that I am sleeping regularly. In my case it's about 6-8 hours of sleeping time everyday. I know for some this may not be possible because of things that you need to do like business, but I wouldn't really sacrifice my hearing for money. I can't imagine if this thing gets any louder.
3. Keep yourself away from stress. Stress is one of the things that have been associated with tinitus along with emotional tension, high blood pressure, sinus, fatigue and others. Busting stress may not be a walk in the park but at least give it a try. Nothing can be more stressful than ringing a non stop beeping in your ear while trying to sleep.
4. Listen to Classical music. Okay, if you're the cool or rocker type then this may be a bad advice but it worked for me. You'll get used to it.
5. Avoid Loud things. I'm not referring to your wife or to your mother. lol. Stay away from concerts or if it's possible. Don't go to a bar and dance in front of a big speaker!
5. Don't think that you have Tinnitus. Trust me on this. This is very important, the more you think that you have "Tinitus", the louder the ringing will be. Forget that you have tinnitus and the ringing will stop. It's hard to at first as you learn how to manage your tinnitus but you'll get the hang of it eventually.
Again, I'm not a medical guy and no expert at Tinnitus or Tinnitis as others spell it but these are the things that I do to manage tinnitus that I find very effective. If you know a better way to cure it or if you know a newly discovered medicine for this, please let us know and we will appreciate it. Millions of people are being tortured of this condition.
