Think & Grow Rich Part II: Building Your Financial Foundation

This episode’s quote is from Acts of Faith: Meditations for People of Color, October 2nd.   Hello and welcome to the second episode of the “Read & Prosper Show.” I’m Kimmy B. your host and founder of the LiteracyRich Project. LiteracyRich is here to inspire and motivate women to become financially literate and active in their lives.   This is part II of this month’s book selection. We are wrapping things up in this episode and moving on to the second book selection which I’ll get to in a moment. We are currently reading Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and today’s lessons are about decision and organized planning. By the end of this video you will know exactly what you need to start the process of becoming financially literate and free. The first lesson is decision. Napoleon Hill says this about decision, “Analysis of several hundred people who had accumulated fortunes well beyond the million dollar mark, disclosed the fact that every one of them had the habit of reaching decisions promptly…” This is the key lesson that I’m wanting you to get. If you are going to change your financial life, you have got to take swift action. When you’re in the midst of becoming financially free it is a process, but it is a process that happens fast and many say that it seems really fast once you’ve reached the goal of becoming financially free. The thing is you can’t sit and decide that you are going to start tomorrow or next week. You have got to start today. Watching this show is a step in the right direction. Napoleon Hill is a huge fan of mastermind groups and states that they are essential to success. He says this about organized planning, “If the first plan which you adopt does not work successfully, replace it with a new plan, if this plan fails to work replace it, in turn with still another, and so on, until you find a plan which does work. Right here is the point at which the majority of men meet with failure, because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail.” This is the truth. I am a blogger and my blog is expanding and so is the work I’m doing but I didn’t start out this way. I attempted to launch about 3 other blogs before I finally got this one right. In relation to money and personal finance, as you proceed on your journey of financial freedom, you’ll discover lots of different ways to get there. The key is not giving up if one method does not work for you. You have to keep going until you find the method that suits you best.   As we come to the end today, I want to say thank you and do a quick review of what you need to get started on building your financial foundation.  1.    Make a decision. Decide on what your financial goals are and how you’re going to reach them.  2.    Organized planning. Write down your financial dreams and goals and how you’re going to reach them.   The third thing you need to do is continue watching this show and reading the Prosperity Blog!
