Many people feel that in order to become a young entrepreneur you need a special gene or something. Entrepreneurs are made not born. By exercising the characteristics related to entrepreneurship you can become one; obtaining Entrepreneur training is key.
Becoming an entrepreneur is a matter of changing your mind, how you think, how you behave, how you manage your time and how you are able to balance your personal life.
So what do you need to become an entrepreneur?
Passion: Loving what you do. When you become passionate about something the effort put into it seems effortless. When you have this vision you tend to work harder, more productive and much happier than most.
Persistence: Becoming determined to succeed. Being able to overcome daily challenges and biting the bullet to do the things that you don't like to do. Always working towards the ultimate goal.
Creative: Always thinking about the next thing that you can do. Create a new product, business, or service. Becoming creative in how you address conflict and service you customers. Willing to engage in new and exciting ideas.
Independence: You want to make things happen. You enjoy the freedom and yet you are very disciplined in managing your time.
Intuitive: You able to look beyond the obvious. Being able to make quick decisions that may affect your business.
Being self-confident: Always being optimistic and having faith in what you are doing. Becoming self-confident allows you to be realistic and open minded and not afraid to ask questions on your journey.
Willing to work hard: With everything worth having you must be willing to work hard, very very hard. But doing this you may actually realize you are not working nearly as hard as you did when you worked for someone else.
As an Entrepreneur are their Risks?
There will always be risks as an entrepreneur starting a small business. But if your mind set is developed well you will have minimized these risks greatly.
Entrepreneurs are not gamblers. They take calculated risks....
Lets look at some of the risks that you as an entrepreneur may take.
Loss of money: We can all relate to this one. At one time or another you will lose some money. Just how much depends on your planning. Did you plan to fall off the curb or the cliff. This is your money so you need to plan.
Long hours: In the beginning especially you will find that you are putting in long hours. You need to learn to accept this and adjust for it as well.
Family: Families may suffer because of the long hours. Before becoming an entrepreneur of a small business, it is best if you have the support of the family, especially the immediate family. By involving your family in the business allows them to appreciate what you are doing and they will become more understanding.
Timing: When starting your new small business make sure that there are no distractions. Such as a newborn, or divorce or other issues that will take you away from your business.
Pitfalls of Entrepreneurship
Yes even as wonderful and self-confident you are you will eventually come across some pitfalls of running a successful small business.
Controlling: Not being able to delegate responsibility to others or becoming the only person that is able to answer questions for your customers. You really can't do it all and if you see this in advance your business will run much smoother.
Workaholic: As things get rolling you may find that you have total tunnel vision. Your business is just so much fun that leaving it causes immense stress. You need to find the balance in your business and personal life.
