There are many techniques to practice meditation and this is yet another of them. The third eye is your gateway or door to your inner world, your Self, and being more in yourself is a sure way of being centered and focused in your day to day activities.

Meditation and Relaxation

Meditation takes many forms to different people. Relaxation to some is their form of meditation, walking in a forest, along a beach, sunbathing by the pool is to some a form of meditation. Anything that allows a person to be with themselves and out of their normal world.

Though to some relaxation methods are not enough, there is still the senses to deal with. Sounds and smells pull you out of your relaxation very easily. High levels of meditation take you out of your senses and hopefully out of your mind, at least your ordinary level of thinking. That incessant blah blah blah that goes around in your head - it's such a drain to hear this over and over and over. Meditation using the Third Eye is a way to go beyond that level of the ordinary mind into deeper states of consciousness.

Out of the Mind out of the Turmoil

It is the way of a Master to be out of his mind completely, total bliss, total space of centredness and nothingness. Why would a person want a state of nothingness? Once you've experienced this peaceful space void of any grossness that years and years of anxiety or burdens have given you, you will feel great relief. You realise your world is so heavy in comparison to deep states of meditation. Relaxation does not go deep enough for many.

Peace and the Mind

Getting out of your mind is no simple task. It takes practice. Going deeper into the Third Eye space you get a sense of going outward. At the same time the world you left behind gets smaller, you no longer hear distracting sounds. This outward space comes from your inner space which becomes void of the senses the deeper you go. Practising resting on and in this space helps to quieten the ordinary mind. It is in this space that you can begin to watch thoughts. Focus on the space which presents lights, colors, blackness, purple space, a sense of peacefulness. You realise you are not in your ordinary mind. Though as soon as you realise this you are back in the ordinary mind! But the more you practice resting in the Third Eye space the easier it is to rest yourself on something far superior than the couch with the TV on.

How do you know your Third Eye is 'working?'

At the centre of the forehead between the eyebrows you may get a sense of pressure, pulsing. At first you may feel absolutely nothing. You may start to see (with your eyes closed) lights and colors, flashes or light, tunnels, vortexes. In the beginning it can be quite strange, a bit scary. With practice and use it will become more and more apparent that you are using your Third Eye.

How does your Third Eye help in daily life?

The Third Eye is not just for meditation. It brings awakening. In daily life to be centered in your Third Eye helps you keep focused during the day, at work, in the supermarket, even in the home. When you start to feel scattered by everything external, the radio, TV, kids screaming, traffic, rushing around, centre yourself in the Third Eye.

If you have an important meeting with the boss or new clients, use the Third Eye to gear into the person you are addressing. It is clearly marked that the person you are talking to knows you are focused on them and not the clock on the wall. With this focus you will take in more, remember more details. You may actually enjoy your day more.



Third Eye and Vision - Heightened Awareness

The Third Eye helps you become more aware. You see things around you more sharply. Colors may seem brighter, smells more pungent. Effectively you are more present in the world. Your ordinary mind has been sidestepped and a high state of consciousness has come into your normal world.

Use your Third Eye as your first line of vision, use the eyes as the second level of vision. Vision in this sense becomes more than what you normally see with the physical eyes. Vision covers more than what you see. It lifts your senses. Vision is not just what you see, it is what you hear, smell, touch, sense and what you come to know beyond the physical facade of our normal daily life. When you look at someone you see into them, you notice them the person. It's not something spooky like they become like an ethereal figure in front of you, though you may see their aura - that's a common effect of a Third Eye awakening.

Vision does not just mean you can look. You actually start to SEE.

I feel so inadequate to comment on your sea of knowledge on your favorite subject. I will try the book and see if I can ever get myself so far to start meditating. I have this nervous energy as part of my life for so long, and tried meditation before and I suck at it. I started yoga 2 months ago and I battled so much in the beginning with just to get my breathing right! Then to be still and empty my thoughts! Sigh I'm still not there!

Hi Annie, Your Mars/Moon, Mars/Uranus, and Uranus aspects give you a predisposition to nervous energy. It's a paradox really and not as it seems. The other side of nerves, or fear is excitement. This energy can give the feeling of fear when it is actually not fear at all. It's an awakening spark that you can ride on. It's all a matter of standpoint this one. I have similar and it has taken allot of work to not feel the anxiety that comes with it. In later years (as we are experiencing now) the feelings are welcome as a way of not falling into the pit of middle age. Who wants boring when you can have a Mars/Uranus/Moon combination! So when you feel the anxiety/nerves/excitement, breath into it and through it and keep moving forward. It will get easier and easier.

And it takes allot of work to empty the mind of thoughts. So much so that it is at times a fruitless exercise. Even long term meditators have trouble. Anyone who at least has a go at meditating is doing themselves a great service. Anything that takes you from external mahem to being with your own self is a positive.

I love it when you visit, and you will never be inadequate.

I fiñd this very intresting. u are on the right path i can tell u ar third eye open i am actually writing about the same elements of life myself and no one understands it unfortunately but thats what makes it so special if we were all enlightintened the world would be a much beter place its a blessing to see it for what it is because everyting falls into place and the world is not a big puzzle anymore its like its simplified down so u can digest it. consciosness is the key remember sleep is the cousin of death u do not crave anyting when u are in the middle of ur sleep food alchol sex u are free, almost a natural numbed out happiness, and thats what it is when u die u shape shift u dont have a physical body but ur energy ur life force wich is here with u now and will be still ther even when ur body rots away like a piece of fruit, remember clearity ur mind should be like a crystal clear and reflecting the envoirment which it is in

A great hub! I particularly appreciated your open-minded approach regarding the various types of meditation employed by people. Not everybody is suited to setting time aside each day to sit and meditate and can gain as much benefit from a walk in nature, as you've mentioned. Any work that I do with my own guides begins with 3 cycles of rhythmic breathing through my third eye (and a dumo visualization) and picture and feel the indigo energy as it infuses my entire body. Your point about heightened awareness is well made... it has added an incredible new dimension to my own journey. This is the first hub of yours that I've read but it certainly won't be the last! hi, i m relatively new to thrid eye meditation. i have been seeing purple lights in between my eyebrows for many months but recently(today morning) when i was in deep thinking, i saw similar lights with my eyes open, also entering the space between my eyebrows. what do you think is happening?

Thanks for your comment vishali. I also have had this experience, the purple space with my eyes open. Understand that it is not your two eyes that are having this experience though you think it is. You are in an involuted state, your consciousness is deeper than it would normally be in a waking state. There are some who can meditate with eyes open and so this would be one space that is experienced.

It is a complicated thing to teach in a short writing, but you have done a remarkable job! I found myself contrasting what you were saying with ways I have meditated in the past, which might more aptly be called relaxation excercises. Well, it worked for me, though I seldon engage in it any more.

I recently had an activity in speech class to help calm the nerves and it was just a relaxation technique. Hi Jewels--Working my way through the ebook and I'm up to the throat exercises and humming and so forth. So strange but after a bit you really can feel the connection and it also feels kind of good all by itself. I looked around for any other references on Samuel Sagan on the web and he's one mysterious dude--nuthin' but stuff that goes right back to the Isis web site. Great hub, thanks!

I've always known that feeling while meditating, but never actively attempted to use it throughout the day. Maybe I'll give that a go.

What do you think about other forms of meditation, used to put one into the present moment (surfing, rock climbing, other forms that keep one in the moment). I know you touched on it, but I wonder if you think the third eye comes into play here.

Third eye center is the one through which all other chakras can be seen, it's the device for inner vision. If someone is aware that their sacral or crown or whatever chakra is active, how is it they see this? Whether you're aware of it or not, it's through the third eye that inner vision is possible. My third eye is always being used and is very tangible physically. For those not aware they are using their third eye it would pay to become more conscious of it.

I have a question about this third eye concept. I 've heard that people can actually see the future through visions and stuff..is this all true? And is it dangerous in any way? I did not do any excercise relating to third eye. In fact, I did not even know much about it until I started feeling this pressure. It just became active itself or because of reiki I gues.

Nia, What I find dangerous is when people completely believe all they are told, and that includes psychics. Even if a reputable psychic foretells your future, remember your future can change regardless of what that person told you. That's what choice is all about. You turn left instead of right and your time line can change. Be discerning and not gullible. I have known of people playing with energies they know nothing about and in doing this end up quite sick themselves. You can learn to stay centered and go for the highest you can. If your intuition is becoming more active, you are likely to get a hunch when something is 'just not right.' Learning how to see and what it is you are seeing is important when you use energy, such as reiki for example. The main reason I do the spiritual work I do is because when I was having reiki sessions I was not satisfied being told what was happening. I wanted to see for myself, I mean really see - that's physically and metaphysically.

For some the third eye experience can be spontaneous, for others who want to have it open, it can be done easily. And for others it will remain closed and unused.
