Website Traffic Strategies

I may be weird, but I love to talk about website promotion and making money online. Over the years I have just fallen in love with working online. One area that I continue to enjoy working in is the webste promotion business and I have developed several avenues for promoting my sites and selling website promotion services and traffic to others.

Though I have some large sites and several smaller ones, one constant is that they all need traffic to survive. I stive to unearth and use new methods all the time. However, I am going to tell you straight up that the tried and true long term methods for promoting a site are still the best. That includes free traffic and buying site traffic.

A Few Traffic Sources

I've not found website traffic from a single scoure to be effective when promotiing my websites. Typically I stick with the tried and true methods including autosurf, autohits, banner exchage, text exchange, popunder, exchange, and viral ads marketing. In addition I purchase traffic for some of my more "top-shelf" sites.

Always Buy Traffic That Is Guaranteed Quality Delivery

As a website promoter I know you work had for your money. Do yourself a huge favor and buy from a reputable source that has a guaranty. You'll be glad you did. It's also important to remember that dirt cheap traffic is usually not quality.

Quick Facts From My Experience

1) High numbers of unique hits to your site can help increase your SEO on Google, Alexa,  AltaVista, Yahoo and other search engine rankings!

2) Real Unique Hits have 0.01% to 0.08% success rate! that suggests that, from 1,000 hits, you can perhaps get 1 to 8 Buyers or Registrations depending on what you are offering and the quality of the traffic.

3) Over 90% of websites DIE because they dont get traffic. No one knows they exist. Website traffic is a must.

My Personal Best Sources For Bringing Traffic To My Sites

As I mentioned about, there seems to be no one signle source or type of traffic that is productive, however, when you combine your site promotion efforts with one another the results can be satisfying. I also hinted towards the fact that I am a bit old school when it comes to website promotion and development because those methods work. I am not opposed ot the new, just not ready to jump on the bandwagon with every new method. "If it aint broke, don't fix it!" =)

1) Paid traffic. I use paid traffic from several sources. I always look for quality traffic for the sites that I have that offer iitmes, services or products for sale and use a lesser quality traffic when I am simply trying to build SEO. However, since I also have been in the online website promotion and website traffic business for several years I may have alliances and partners that aren't readily accessible online as I have large volmes of traffic passing over my server as a result of my years of work and learing. So, my suggestion is that you look for a provider that is top level and offers a guaranty. No one can guaranty sales or sign-ups, but can work with you to guarantee the delivery of the traffic. My goal is always 1% conversion rate across the board, however this isn't always easily attainable. Trust me, I have sites that have far lower conversion rates too.

It's also important to know that there are many different types of traffic and delivery both user level and commercial. I have had some success with the popunder display style traffic. It's generally cheap and can be delivered quickly, however it does not always work well for building SEO as these scripts provide tracking stats that alter your url so the visits generally does not get counted by stats tools like webalizer, aswats, google analytics, etc. So, it is important to know what you are buying. Proxy servers are also an additional problem for traffic delivery, but that is a Hub all it's one someday.

My paid traffic sources used include, unique visits, non-unique traffic, popups, popunders, expired domain name, traffic trades (non-adult), and traffic exchanges.

2) I generate a great deal of traffic from Autohits and Autosurf traffic exchanges. I have done this for years. Some are free acounts that I actually surf and some are paid endeavors. Suring gives me insight  into what others are using for site layout, detial and content, so it serves a good purpose for my online income adventures.

I have no idea how many accounts I have or where they all even are without some research, I just know that I use these services loyally. I typicaly look for sites that offer millions and millions of visits at a resonalbe price or that have lifetime, no surf packages of hits.

3) Search engine traffic. While search engine traffic has been an avidly debated topic for may years, I still believe that SEO is extremely important, as are keywords. Spend some time planning and managing your SEO. It will pay big dividens in the long run.

4) Lastly I use banner and text exchanges. Honestly, I do not keep track of the specific numbers of visits these produce. I just know that they do. Banners and text block ads are good ways to build content into a site. Thats mostly why I use them. I also leave room for advertising such as google adsense and figure that in the long run the space for the text and banner exchaged ads is paid for by adsense revenue.

While there are many other forms of website promotion that I use, I am not going to go into detial here. Feel free to read any oy my other Hubs there is some information related to those types, such as viral marketing, email marketing etc. When I use those forms or advertising they are generally specifically targeted and leans more towards the topic of ecommerce marketing than website traffic.
