High Blood Pressure and Dry Skin
If your family history includes family members, treated for high blood pressure and or dry skin you should ask your physician to check for hypothyroidism (under active thyroid glad). This could be a contributing factor to high blood presseure and dry skin. Other symptoms of under active thyroid may be unexplainable feeling of tiredness and puffy face.
Every cell of the body is affected by the thyroid gland, which produces hormones, thyroxine (T-4) and triiodothyronine (T-3).
The hormones determines how the body uses fats and carbohydrates, regulates body temperature, is connected to heart rate and the production of protein.
The thyroid gland produces calcitonin, a hormone that regulates the amount of calcium in your blood.
Women over 50 are not the only ones who suffers from under active thyroid.
Other Sypmtoms
One does not have to be a female over 50 to have the following symptoms:
Infants are ususually tested at birth, women can develop these symptoms during and after pregnancy and teens could have these symptoms as well.
Thyroid gland underactivity is not preventable. It is neccessary to have blood tested to determine if your thyroid gland is producing the right amount of harmones.
