How'd that work out?

The world, especially China has changed drastically in the past 20 years.  So, what makes this event such a news worthy  story?  wanting to relive the moment?  The man standing before the tank?  What did it really accomplish?  It's money that changed China, not some goofy protest.  People want to look at this as some big highlight in human rights.  Yet, when our officials go there it's never a topic as to how the Govt still tramples on it's citizens. We are economically beholden to them now, and their human rights abuses are no longer our concern.  Our only concern is if they'll lend us some of our money back.  Tibet?  No longer on the radar.  Becoming militaristic?  We'll get used to it.  No, being the lender has it's perks, and holding the purse strings keeps others negative comments at bay.  So, it's 20 years since the big protest?  It's only relevance is for news filler at 6 PM.
