Time Management: An Essential Skill for Managers

Time management is a skill that a manager should possess. Time management is more of an art, rather than a science. It is a balancing act. As a manager, one has to delineate which tasks are to be undertaken by himself/herself and which ones have to be delegated to subordinates. As a general rule, planning and direction setting is primarily the responsibility of a manager while routine tasks should be left to the subordinates. In my experience, time management skill is strongly associated with delegation skill. Aside from delegation, there a lot more techniques and guidelines that a manager should be conscious about to achieve good time management ability.

I took the quiz "Assessing Your Time Management Ability" lifted from Robert Heller and Jim Hindle's book "Essential Manager's Manual". I scored fairly well but with a lot of room for improvement.
