Have you seen Discovery Travel and Living Channel’s most popular show “John and Kate Plus Eight?” Well, if you have missed it so far, keep on surfing back to the channel’s website archived once in a while. And once you see an almost bald headed man (no wonder, he has to raise eight toddlers!), and a woman (who must spend more hours doing her hair than looking after her children) running after eight little kiddos, you would know that you are there.

You might be wondering often what it is that is so interesting to see a couple working through the daily hurdles of raising eight children. They might not be the couple to catch your focus, but to 9.8 million viewers, their importance almost reaches at par with the importance of Brangelina.

This is a reality TV show which shows us the daily lives of parents Jon and Kate, along with their fraternal twins and sextuplets. This show was first aired on Discovery Health, but since season 3, it has switched over to TLC. It was the most watched program in TLC, and the success goaded the family on to appear in the one hour special which was titled Surviving Sextuplets and Twins.

During the show, the people on the set had to install permanent light fixtures to help with the artificial lighting and all. They could not go for temporary lighting because the children would often trip over the cables and wires. They filmed the show for about three days a week and they also kept aside one day for the interviews, where Kate, Jon and the children would discuss the things which happen in eth episode.

In their old house, Kate and Jon decided to turn the playroom in the basement into the “interview corner” which was painted green. In their new house, they set up the same set in their unfinished basement. Kate and Jon have revealed that they will be creating a new set after season 5.

Kate and Jon work closely with the producers to decide what themes they will be working on every time. They have revealed that over the years, the production crew has become a part of their family, and at one point saddled up for western mode. See if you can spot the episode!

Yes, some of those old episodes are on. New ones, too. That many would be a bit noisy at times :) Wouldn't want to be on a live show, no thanks, though.
