TIP #1 - So Many Choices of MLM Leads Companies and Types of Leads
Have you ever gone to Google and did a search for "MLM Leads" or "Network Marketing Leads?" Well, between those two searches, there are over 2 million results!
Now granted, not all those results are places where you can actually get leads; in fact, only a small percentage actually are. But, with so many choices, where do you buy leads? That's the first question.
Once you begin visiting some of the websites to buy or research about MLM Leads, you quickly realize that there are several different types of leads, and not every company calls the same lead by the same name. So, that brings us to the second question - What kind of leads do you buy?
Let's begin with the first question - Where do you buy leads?
My main answer for this is, don't make this harder than it is. Where do you buy other things when you go shopping? Usually people buy things that have some of the following criteria:
- Clean and professional looking
- An established business with a history of service
- Quality - sometimes you can tell by looking, other times you need to see what others are saying
- Customer Service - No one likes to be treated like dirt or ignored. If you are going to spend your hard earned money, a little respect is not much to ask for.
- Service after the purchase - it doesn't sit well for repeat business if you are ignored after you spent your money. Makes you feel used.
Anyway, I could go on, but you get the idea. No matter what you're buying, clothes, food, a car, a DVD, or even buying something like Network Marketing leads, you should expect these things too.
I would dare say, don't buy leads from a website that looks like a 12-year old created the site in his basement. In fact, I've seen sites that 12 year olds have made, and they are much more professional looking than many of the leads sites you find on Google.
Apply the above criteria, and you are a step in the right direction. It may not be perfect, but at least you are going down the right path.
That brings us to the second question - What kind of leads do you buy?
Don't get confused by this either. There are three basic types of leads:
- Real Time Phone Leads (also called Live Leads or Instant Leads)
- Fresh Leads (also called opt-in leads, aged, leads, etc.)
- Email Leads (sometimes also called optin leads or autoresponder leads)
I wouldn't worry about #3 right now. That's another topic for another day. So, you have to make a decision, do you want a real time lead, or do you want a fresh lead that may be a few days old. Here is a rule of thumb (or two)
- Real time MLM leads will cost more, so you get fewer leads for your money. You are paying for the premium service and technology that is required to deliver this type of lead instantly.
- Fresh MLM leads cost less, so you get more leads for you money. You are receiving a discount because the lead is aging and may have already been contacted by another network marketer in real time.
So, what do you buy? It mainly depends upon your business, your experience, and your budget.
I wouldn't suggest spending a high price on leads if you are fairly new with leads and need the experience. Buy cheap leads and use those for experience. You may recruit a few people along the way as a bonus.
Also, your company may dictate the type of lead to buy. What kind of return on investment (ROI) will you get when you recruit someone? If you can't cover the cost of your leads with sign on bonuses, advanced commissions, or any other type of incentive, then you need to consider a cheaper lead. However, if you get a hefty chunk of change, don't be afraid to spend more money. You may just take your recruiting to a higher level.
The bottomline - be sensible. Don't lose you mind by what someone else is telling you. Use your God-given smarts and make the right choice. Buy from a professional, established, quality company. Buy the right type of lead for YOU!
The next bottomline is - you won't know until you try. Spend a little money and test what is right. Don't ask for handouts. Test a small batch and see what you get. If the results or experience is bad, don't whine. Just move on and test somewhere else.
I hope this helps. It's not an easy decision for a new person in their first home business, but simply be smart!
TIP #2 - Use Your Leads, Don't Waste Them
It's kind of funny, but it is estimated that over 50% of the leads that are purchased are never used. Fifty percent! Why? People get afraid and get busy and the lead just sit there on their computer or on their print out and nothing ever happens.
This may sound obvious, but you can't recruit people into your business if you don't make that initial contact.
Leads (despite what some people say) are not cheap. It doen't matter how much you spent, $30, $50, or more than $100 for your leads, if you're not using them, that's an expensive price to pay.
It's kind of like going to the gas station and pumping about $50 worth of gas onto the ground, instead of in your car. It's a waste.
Okay... enough of my belly aching. Here is what I think you need to do... which will lead into Tip #3. The basis of wasting leads is that you're afraid of rejection and/or don't like speaking with strangers. If you are going to survive in this industry and begin earning a substantial commission from your company, you must overcome this.
Here's the deal - a lead is just that, a lead. It is the name of a person that requested information about a business opportunity. When you call them up they will either want more information or they will not. It's a simple thing that we make more complex in our mind.
I know that 50% of the MLM Leads we sell at National Leads will not get used. While that's good for some because it means less competition, it typically means that the person who buys them and wastes them will either blame the leads he didn't use, or he will keep searching for a different way to build his business.
As I prepare Tip #3, I would suggest that by learning to overcome this fear and become a passionate leads person, your success will be unlimited. That is when I believe this business is more than a way of making money, it is a way of changing you and transforming you into a greater person.

TIP #3 - Get Training Right Away
One of the biggest, if not the biggest mistake I see is when people feel like they can make it without training. I don't care what background you have, you need to invest $200-$400 in training.
The best advice I can give you is to go to Dani Johnson's weekend live event. It is called "First Steps To Success Seminar." Here is what I would like you to do. Watch the YouTube video on the right of Dani. After seeing the testimonies of people who have been to her training, you will quickly see why you need to be there.
Find THE NEXT seminar and sign up and go. If you can take your spouse, then do it. $297 is what it will cost you. I would simply think you're foolish for saying that's too much and you don't need it or don't have the time.
As if this wasn't enough, I put together a hub page that is more specifically focused on http://hubpages.com/hub/Home-Business-Training

Thanks for all the info on MLM leads. It can be so confusing working out what leads are worth investing in, but your hub really helps to sort out what's worth it & what isn't.
I like tip#3 the best. Training is so important regardless of the business field. Spending money on yourself to improve your skills is one of the best investments you can make.
You're right that training is the most important. I had never heard of Dani but went to her site and signed up right away for the free info. Thanks!
One of the better articles I have read on leads. You are right on the mark about lead quality. Add to that you are showing Dani as a way to learn the best way to use those leads is an even better proposition.

Couldn't agree more! Gonna visit your recommend sites!
Good info on MLM leads. I liked the answer for Where to buy leads? Thanks for info.
Very useful tips on MLM leads, and yes I do agree that you will have to spend some money on learning. Consider it as paying for your education in the MLM world, and in many ways it is an investment on yourself.
These are all great ideas for making money online I just posted a new hub explaining how to make a ton of easy cash on the internet using directory script.
Those are great tips. Thanks. People usually get confused what kinds of leads they should be getting. At least now, they have a clearer of what to get. I couldn't agree more about the training being the most important part.
