I have worked from home now for many years. I feel I have some sound advice to assist people who make the decision to stay at home to conduct their business.

Working from your home calls for discipline. Personal and family discipline! Everyone in the family needs too understand that working hours are exactly that! Working hours! The one who actually works from the home must work if they are too be successful. They do not need too be interrupted!

Set up a schedule as to when your working hours will be and stick with the routine. Explain to all family members your schedule. Let them know you will follow your schedule and expect them to as well.

You should have an area to use as your work area, whether it is a shop in the garage or an office in the bedroom. This is your designed area to get the job done!

Make sure you have the materials you need to do your work! Try not too have too go get supplies in the middle of your schedule. Stick with your tasks.

Since you work from your home, let everyone know what you do and that you work from your home. This help many times in securing you business. Let everyone know what you do! Say it loud and be proud! If you work for another company and not yourself, follow the same suggestions above. They apply to your job also.

I have witnessed people who have attempted to work from their home and failed all because of no self-discipline. My best advice is if you are not a self-disciplined person, do not work from home. It will be a short lived adventure and a costly one to your person finances!
