87Supporting the NSPCC Full Stop Campaign.
Hi, my lens has useful tips for people considering buying a miniature schnauzer,or for those who are lucky enough to have one. It also gives you the chance to groom your own schnauzer with my practical guide that will save you thousands of pounds within the life span of your schnauzer.
I am a dog groomer and an owner of two Mini Schnauzer's both 4 years old.
Take a look, you might find it interesting :)
I would like to share some tips with you about owning and caring for a Miniature Schnauzer. So if you already have a Miniature Schnauzer or are considering to buy one then this could be quite useful to you.
Dont be fooled be puppy dog eyes, Mini Schnauzers are very clever in getting what they want.
Try not to give in to sad eyes and give them something from your plate, you will start a habit of a lifetime from day one. (plus its no good for their diet or figure)
Try to walk your mini schnauzer at least 3 times a day, they are very energetic little things and are very playful.
Try to be consistant with them, no means no and should not mean yes next time. A lot like bringing the children up !!!
These tips you may think could apply to any breed of dog and you are right but from my experience of 4 years with two Mini Shnauzers these tips only seems to apply to my boys !!! :)
Get your Mini Schnauzer used to a lead almost immediatly, you will be thankful you did in the long term. Walk around the house a few times will help him adjust to a collar and lead.
TOP TIP
Take as much time as you can to Brush, Brush and Brush your mini schnauzer, and if you have any spare time on your hands then brush some more.Put them in the bath from a pup, and use a cool hairdryer to dry.If you must take your Mini Schnauzer to a dog grooming parlour, then do this almost instantly or as soon as you can.
A trip to the dog grooming parlour
If your mini schnauzer is'nt used to being in a cage, then chances are they may get stressed at a parlour.
I had my boys groomed at home, but when I had to take them to a doggy palour it was very stressful. My boys was'nt used to being in cages waiting to be groomed, surrounded by other dogs probably wandering what is going on just as they must of been. This simple tip will lead to a stress free mini schnauzer and a happier you.
After enough visits to the dog grooming parlour to convince me that my boys were stressed with the big ordeal, I decided to train to become a dog groomer. This way my boys dont mind me grooming or trimming them because they know me, which means LESS STRESS!!! Which works perfectly for me.

hello again just wondering if you are groomer why are your schnauzers not groomed properly and why are they tails so long? i had started with 1 min. schnauzer then 2 then a litter of 5 pups then litter of 3 and now we have one dog left. i loved all of my schnauzer and all loved the groomers, by at least the second grooming. thanks again
thanks for the information on schnauzers, i have a wonderfull dog who loves to be groomed at the groomers or home he just loves to be fussed and is a well behaved dog, all dogs should go to groomers and be taught to mix with other dogs from an early age.
I think you should pay a trip to the groomers, looking at your dogs they do need a good professional groom, they still look cute, but could do with a good cut.
Sorry./

hello
just wanted to say, it is good for you to take your dog to the groomers i have had miniature schnauzers for awhile and it is better to take them to a groomer, they will get use to the kennel and get socialized with new people also. of course doing ti your self saves money but take your dog to the groomer eventually they will get used to it and will handle it no problem, my miniature schnauzer was never groomed or anything till 7 or 8 months and she was never brushes so as soon as i got her we took her to the groomers there was alot of other dogs and she was all excited and nervous and was afriad of the groomer a little bit and the razor and well just about everything. the next time we brought her in she was fin stood there to get groomed was great, as long as you dont teach them that they should be afraid the will get the hang of it. thanks
