Yuo May as Well Buy This if You Use a Broker

The Automobile Broker

Buying a car through an automobile broker is not very smart when it comes to tips for buying new cars.  An automobile broker will factory order the domestic make and model car of your choice for local delivery through a local dealership.  The automobile broker's major sales pitch is "discount because of no middleman."  He will tell you that he has no salesmen to pay, no facilities to maintain, and because of that he can sell you a new car at just a little over dealer cost.

Not quite true.

He is working as a franchisee, the automobile broker places your order through a franchiser who receives a fee per unit ordered.  The local dealer who delivers your car receives a delivery fee of $100 to $125 or more.  The automobile broker himself will write as much profit as possible into the contract and then call it a brokerage fee, a pre delivery or prep charge, a buying fee, or any combination of the three.  The savings is simply an illusion.  Don't fall for their illusion, steer clear of automobile brokers.

There are more fingers in the pot than they let you know.

Buying through an automobile broker will never be part of our tips for buying new cars because of the following inherent disadvantages.  You cannot trade in your current vehicle through them, you must sell or dispose of your old car on your own, and after the purchase, any service or warranty problem leaves you at the mercy of a dealer who did not make much of a decent profit at all on the deal.  There is no advantage when factory ordering through the automobile broker, because he does not carry an inventory and inspection of merchandise is severely restricted.  Your options in the event of any problems are severely limited.  The dealer only made the delivery to the automobile broker and the broker only placed an order at your request.  That leaves you and the factory and their factory representative.
