No More Panic Attacks

How to overcome social anxiety is a very personal goal and the person with this type of anxiety may have to seek professional help if there is no improvement. First of all, social anxiety is the fear of being out in public or around people. People with this anxiety will break out in a sweat when in a crowd of people or seek to run from the social situation. However, human beings were meant to be together and to coexist. Coexistence in a harmonious society makes for progress of the home, the community, the city, the state and the nation.

To overcome social anxiety, you have to ask your self what are you afraid of?

Have you been molested or abused as a child or as an adult. Children has the propensity to hide behind bad memories and to store the bad experiences in the innermost hemisphere of there minds to try to forget the unpleasant situations. Being around people may bring the bad memories back into existence and instead of enduring the sweats or other physical reactions, the person may just opt to further isolate themselves from society.

Isolation is not good and it is at this point that the person should seek professional help from a counselor. If the counseling seems like too big a step to take because some people still think that there is a stigma on therapy, then seek the help of a friend or a loved one. If you are a "loner" type, then you need to find a support group that has gathered people with the same anxiety problem in meetings in which to speak the fears out and to get on with their lives.

Oprah had a show on recently where overweight children were allowed by the counselors to scream to their mothers why they were angry at being overweight. A majority of these teenage children blamed the mother for their weight gain or themselves for the helplessness when it came to food. Tears abounded as the mothers joined in with their daughers, some of them were overweight as well. The topic is still in tact. This program on The Oprah Show is mentioned because the environment was like a support group and the teenagers related to each other. The angry accusations were a release that was needed from the teasing and abuse they had endured as overweight teens. Oprah asked each one of the teens, what were they hungry for. Why were they overeating?. The person suffering from social anxiety should ask himself the same question. What is he afraid of that causes him to fear being around the company of others. This is a question that only can be answered by the person experiencing the social anxiety. This person knows himself better than anyone else even if some of these feelings have been hiden away. Now if the person is unable to answer the question of "Why are you afraid of social interaction or just being around other people," then professional help is suggested as a remedy.

Social anxiety is a real problem in society and needs to be dealt with immediately with the help of professionals who knows how to open closed worlds up for social enjoyment. No one deserves to be alone and afraid to reach out for help. If you know of someome suffering from social anxiety, please have them to log on to Oprah.com and see if there is a link or 800 number in which to call to get them back to being themselves again. Look online or in the yellow pages under therapist or get referral help from friends or family members to get back "out there."LIfe is meant to be shared with others. The world is too big for one person to be alone and for social anxiety to exist. And if this helps, people do not bite.
