Tips on Home Manicures
58Make Your Manicure Professional and Long lasting
You can save a lot of money by doing your manicure and pedicures at home. Here are some pointers on creating the perfect manicure:
- Soak your fingernails in a dish of white vinegar for a minute before applying polish. Wipe nails dry with a clean cloth.
- The longer you wait to let the polish dry between applying coats of nail polish the better (even when using quick dry treatments).
- Wait two minutes minimum between each coat of polish, including a base coat, two coats of polish and a top coat.
- Use a nail product between manicures and pedicures to help guard against chips and add shine (ex. Sally Hansen's Maximum Growth Plus Quick Dry Top Coat).
- If you are short on time, simply remove old polish and moisturize your hands.
- If you don't have cuticle oil use olive oil or Vaseline.
- Store polish in a cool, dry place like the fridge. It will last longer.
