Selling Items on Ebay
Before you can sell anything on eBay, you have to register. You will need a designated bank account to receive the money from your sales and for eBay to receive payment for your advertising. A safe way to buy and sell in eBay is by using PayPal.
Once you have registered then you need to download the eBay turbo lister. This is a free tool. It allows you to make templates of repeat items you are selling. This enables you to list several different items at the one time before going online. Once you have finished setting up each item, you can upload all items together. This will save you a lot of time, and you have a record of the template to use many times. If you have sold out of an item you could change the picture and virtually use same template with a slight alteration.
* Good clear photos are essential
It is important to take good clear photos of your wonderful jewelry. Every picture tells its own story, so if a buyer cannot see the item clearly they will not buy from you. It is important to enhance the item, use a dark colored cloth background for a light colored piece. Then a light colored fabric behind a darker piece. This will make it easier to see your masterpiece. Use a tripod for taking photos or rest your camera on something to prevent taking blurred pictures, because you have moved when taking photo.
You can resize, enhance, or crop your photos in Paint Shop Pro, or a similar photo program. Make a folder on your computer and save these pictures in gifs or jpeg format for easier uploading.
*Charges for selling on EBay
EBay has a variety of charges, without a feature picture, it will cost fifty cents for each listing. Although you can load one picture for free. I would advise paying the extra fee to have a picture on the front page to catch the buyer's eye. There are many other features available to help sell your items.
* Listing your precious item
Decide whether to list in the auction, or Buy Now format. Use "Keywords" in your title, this is how your customer will find your article. Choose the best category to promote your item, try different ones, and see which one works best for you. Describe your article to the best of your ability. Be honest with your buyer, if there is a fault with the item; make sure you have listed this in the description.
Choose how many days to list item and show charges for postage and insurance if required. Never charge an exorbitant price for postage because it will turn clients away from you, if you overcharge. Therefore buying from someone else, and cost you the sale. It is fair to allow an extra dollar or so for handling on top of normal post but no more.
Pricing the item is a very important and hard thing to decide. Check out what other sellers are charging. Be realistic, if you charge more than reasonable you will not sell too many.
*Completing the Sale
Once your auction has finished the customer will contact you. Payments normally made within three to four days after auction ends. Once money is paid, post their article and notify them. Reward your eBay buyers by leaving them a good feedback, by saying prompt payers, good communication or similar.
*Relisting unsold item
If for some reason your item does not sell, you can relist the item again free. Alternatively, if buyer does not pay after reasonable time, you may offer the next bidder a second chance to buy item. You can also notify eBay and start a claims dispute if buyer does not pay.
If you follow these simple tips, you should have fun selling your jewelry, and making money. If you wish to improve your sales, eBay has the option whereas you can have your own store.
