Tips For Making a Career Change

So you'vemade the big decision that you want to change careers. Well good on you. It's certainly a big step but one that can be successful providing you adopt the following key steps.

1: You Must Show You Are Commited

I suggest you take classes, join industry organizations or volunteer within the field you're exploring before you try to go full time -- and you'll also have a much better idea if this really is the right move for you. It also shows you are serious about this.

2: Outline Your Skills

You should focus on the skills you have that will be transferable. This is more important than any experience you have. Make sure this is clear on your resume.

3: Learn The Language

It's no good going into a new profession if you can't speak the language. Spend time learning the lingo. It will help you in the long run.

4: Don't Be In a Rush

If you are serious about changing careers then take your time. It's going to be far more successful if you spend time planning, researching etc. If you rush into it without much thought then it is bound to be a failure.
