It is believe that the employment opportunity for a massage therapist is estimated to increase up to 25% from 2009 to 2019 and will continue to expand as majority of people become aware regarding the holistic healing process compared to chemical treatments. So, isn’t it the right opportunity to plunge into a career that has multiple aspects to it? Especially at the time of recession when people are losing on their jobs, you can always make a new start plus the knowledge will be beneficial to you too.


To be a Massage Therapist in 3 simple Steps:

  • Proper Education and Training: - If you are genuinely interested in this career, you need to pull up your socks and start researching. Find an accredited school, from where you will get training as a school’s credential will help you win many clients in the later stage. So, you may be wondering who accredits these massage schools? Well, United States Department of Education (USDE) or other voluntary accreditation bodies like the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA), share the responsibility for the process. They are responsible for the training that is provided in the schools as they are also the decision making authority of these schools.
  • Getting a License: - So, you crossed the first milestone after completing your course. It is important for you to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB) administered by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). This is an extremely important credential that hooks up more clients as it needs to be renewed every 4 years and it tests your credibility as a massage therapist.
  •  Become a Part of Professional Association: - It forms the most crucial aspect of these 3 steps as it helps you to form an effective client base. People trust association that have build their name over years and if you are part of any of these kind of associations, chances are you will gain the trust along with it. It will definitely be a lucrative aspect to your career.
