65Time to calling out the new Administration
I of late have found It very difficult to feel Inspired to write anything here on hubpages . Like the rest of you , I am just utterly exhausted from the constant bombardment of bad news that we recieve In the media on a daily basis .
But I was perusing the Drudge Report as Is my daily ritual and found an article that just made me physically Ill ! As we are all aware President Obama ,has more or less declared Jihad against big business and targeted AIG and deservedly so . Considering that at least 70 employees are recieving bonuses of 1 million or more for running that company Into the ground , and left us to pick up the tab ! But now It seems that he Is going after the medical Insurance companies too ! On March 16th of this year , David K Rehbein a representative of the American Legion met with Rahm Emanuel and Eric Shinseki the head of the Dept of veteran affairs because of a proposal by our President to start billing Private Insurance carriers for treatment of Veterans at all VA facilities . Now as I see It our veterans get some of the crapiest treatment In regards to medical care that Is Imaginable ! Let me give you the example of Walter Reed hospital that If you have been awake In the last couple of years was exposed for the Inferior services and dilapidated condition of the facilities .
But I guess that the administration figures that all the private Insurers get to pick up the tab on that . Which In turn all but guarantees that our Veterans will not be able to pick up any medical Insurance through the private sector . Most have pre existing conditions due to the fact that they were busy fighting abroad In one war I have never agreed with and In Afghanistan trying to root out Taliban and Al Queda . If there Is one thing that I feel passionate about It Is that Veterans care which Is already poor should never ever be messed with ! These guys should be untouchable !
And I recall that our President was very specific about making a promise to take care of our veterans In one of his countless speeches I watched as he was on the campaign trail . So now our veterans get a slap In the face as thanks for their service . This Is nothing short of shameful !
I want to blame this on Lindsay Lohan somehow ,but I am realistic enough to know that the buck stops with our new administration It Is my understanding that he sees this action as being able to generate $540 million In new revenues ,which obviously means he Is using the State of California playbook for Increasing revenue . Now we have hit a total of 11 trillion In debt I guess screwing our veterans becomes a viable option ! I do not know about you but I have always felt a sense of patriotism towards my country ,and lately I seem to be having a tough time mustering that type of sentiment . I guess that 540 million will go towards AIGs next bailout !
So In conclusion I just want to say I realize times are tough , and that we are up to our ass In debt to China , Japan and all the oil cartels . But the guardians of our country deserve better than this !

Thank you for writing this my husband is retired from the United States Navy and he uses the VA for his health care and I can tell you it is not the best health care out there. He has battled with them for a year now just to hear they can not find out what is wrong with his stomach because, of course, they worry about it being the cause of the military and not treating the illness. Anyway he was in the Gulf War and I have other family members who have fought wars for this country as far back as WWII. All Veterans deserve the best care possible because they have given their all for us and some gave all they had! Great Hub!
TP Gamarro , I am truly sorry to hear about your husbands condition , and I wish you both well and I hope they fix what ails him ! I agree It Is disgusting the way our patriotic servicepeople are treated !
74 with wheelchair in Veterans Home, I must be very very lucky ... to be in this Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. So many others are so very much worse. But "Luck" is Karma in work clothes. As a long-ago Doctor of Fitness, from long before my disability, I'm slowly working to recover. What really gripes me is learning that we VETERANS ARE VICTIMS and have been so all down through our american history. AND now I've learnt that the VA is cheating us of the pension we earned so hard, so long ago, which Congress has mandated that the VA pay us. AND that they stuffing their deep adminsitrative pockets with huge bonuses while laughing up their sleeves. Though George Bush is the worst of the traitors, the VA must join him and the Treasury, the CIA and FBI, etc. in the courts. And on the gallows. We The People are calling loudly, across this nation, for their Indictment, and PUBLIC trials. But we see that there is not a whisper from the Controlled Media AND from our servants in the (un)Cviil Service sector.

The VA is bad enough when Republicans are in office, no surprise how it's sliding now.
I know what you mean sadly enough there Gary .Regardless of which party our veterans deserve so much better then what they recieve right now , because they sacrifice everything .

True Dat! I read this recently also. As a military healthcare recipient, I can tell you that it DOES suck already, and I'm not even suffering the effects of the battlefield. A neighbor of mine in SC a few years ago lost her brother, who was blown up in a roadside bomb in Iraq. Here's the kicker - he survived the blast (barely) survived the sandy and un-sterile emergency operation on his head in a tent in the field (barely) survived a week in a German hospital (barely, but the Germans do kick ass in that respect) and came home to be killed, literally, at Walter Reed by incompetent nurses who severely overdosed him on his pain meds one day. That day was about a week short of his homecoming.
And like you said, now the administration would like to yank some more out from under these vets. What a crock. Great hub - people should know what kind of crap Washington is made of.
