To the Indian Saree and the women who wear them
78
I’ve always told the girls I dated that Indian women are the most beautiful in the world. No, I’m not from Europe nor do I possess an accent that suggests any desire to imbibe the dialectical version of American English in communication, but a simple Bangalore boy from Southern India with no desire to join the masses with their fascination for all things Western (especially women).
Unfortunately, the women never really believed what I said! But first impressions never give you the entire picture unless you ask ‘why’. Well, they never asked… so I never found the need to tell! And no regrets either…
This picture of Celina Jaitley in a white saree (a Bollywood
actress & Miss. World contestant) will tell you why I felt that
way! Revealing yet not indecent, elegant with no need for
accessorization like jewellery and so on… and the mystery just takes
the sensuality up a couple of notches! Any straight man will feel blood
rush up his spine (and you know where else) when he sees this pic, and any woman will get as
green as one can get! Classy... just classy!
Two words for you: So fine! [If I might borrow a familiar phrase...]
It’s ironic that in a country like ours, India… everyone seems to equate the ‘cool’ to all things Western. Whether it’s the language, the clothes we wear, the music we listen to, the movies we watch and in matters of sexuality.
In short, the ‘American Invasion’ is complete!
But this is not a rant against the ways of the West, but just thoughts on how amazing the Indian culture is too… starting from its women!
I’ve spent most of my life working for American firms, an important element of which is to understand who they are. One can’t help but appreciate what they’ve given (apart from their obnoxiousness) the world! So I’m not one of these fascist assh**** who can’t handle change when it’s only for the best… right in my own backyard!
But on to more important things other than rants against western dominance in our lives…
The female anatomy is not necessarily always about tits and ass… other aspects such as the eyes, her back and legs can really make a woman look gorgeous, like the woman above… provided you know how to draw attention to it in a subtle manner unlike some of these women who might as well point us in that direction! And you know what I’m talking about… all you porn addicts out there… and God bless you too… hehe!
And the point I’m making here is that the Indian saree among other traditional wear (that you just have to see!!!) is important element of the Indian woman that sets them apart from other women (with due respect to the others, of course).
Another thing I should mention is the Kala Mandir saree
collection calendar. Yes, it can be considered as a substitute for 'bikini
calendars' that isn't acceptable amongst traditional Indian families around
the house. (winky wink)My apologies if that’s rude in an ethnocentric way but it’s
true! The picture above is of a woman resting after drawing water from a
well…and this is just one snap of the calendar... it's gets better as you peruse through the remainder of the calendar!
And if this doesn’t make your jaws drop, then I don’t know what will!
If you haven’t noticed already, there’s nothing blatant about the exposure but there’s enough to get your pulse racing… and that’s sensuality, baby!
Now I don’t want to go on and on, but interestingly if there’s a philosophy of the saree you will find that it is very similar to the sensuousness in the Kama Sutra (or the ‘Manual of Love’) written so long ago.
So, I hope I’ve made an obvious point that there are some things about the Indian tradition (yes, it’s cool too) that is worth holding on to and the saree in all its glory is one of them! So, the pretty Indian women should lose the hot pants and tops please! And do the ’skin is in’ thing, a little differently… the Indian way, which has been around forever and ever now!
Here’s a video of the actress above (Celina Jaitley) who is the brand ambassador (and an example for the modern Indian woman, if you will) for Jashn sarees and dress materials and a gay rights activist in India (you go girl! winky wink):

Awesome Hub! Here's one of mine: http://hubpages.com/hub/fashionchanges
Hey buddy...im big fan of kalamandir shots...browse across flick and yeah u can catch me as well.. I missed that calendar could be great if you share..
Thanks dude.
Very good hub. Agree with a lot of what you say, and think that we Indians live in very interesting times, with the ability to imbibe the good from the West while at the same time being anchored to our values and traditions and our sense of identity.

Honestly... I loved this Hub! First that you decided to write on this very subject, and because a lot of men would fear to say this to other women... (most people would think it... not say it) so I truly appreciate that.
My love affair with the beauty of Indian women in their saree's started very early for me. They fascinated me. I would stare at them openly ( I am sure they didn't know why, but thought it very rude!) But I couldn't help it. They were just so beautiful especially the young women. But I also thought the older women beautiful too...you could tell what beauties they were in their youth.
Of course I can not feel the appreciation for them for the same reason's as you ;0).... but I too appreciate the alluring and very real beauty of Indian women... and their saree.
I for one, am so glad Indian women have held on to this tradition of dress and not gone entirely Texas or Los Angeles! Thanks for the video!
