What are the benefits of creating HubPages? Do you make money from it?
74Do Authors Make Money?
There are lots of reasons people make Hubs. It turns out that only a few are serious about making money. Serious in that they will write about commercial topcs, get a few links from other sources and create high quality information rich pages. If this formula is followed, there are authors that earn over $2K per month.
Most do it because they enjoy writing, sharing information and helping others out. The helping others out is my personal favorite reason and the one that makes me happiest about what we have created. There are some extremely thoughtful and well put together Hubs that came from requests. Which are a testament to peoples desire to provide helpful information.
Authors Make the Benefits
It's the authors and the community that create the benefits. I love seeing detailed information about how to do unusual things, or a great list of pictures from a trip.
We've heard a ton of stories about people planning vacations from hubs they have read, finding a great new service, or the exact piece of information they were looking to find.
Benefits of HubPages
When we created HubPages we wanted to provide three main benefits to publishers of Hubs.
- We wanted to make it easy to create a content aggregation point with text, pictures, links, and comments.
- We wanted to help authors become widely read by providing the technical know-how of search engine optimization.
- We wanted to offer expert monetization so that author could share in the rewards.
That was the plan.
Do We Make Money
Yes. We earn about 40% of the ad revenue from the Hubs that are created through our impression service plan. However, we still have a ways to go to profitability. Our feeling is that the high quality service we provide will result in more quality Hubs created and that partnership with publishers will make everyone successful

That's good. I love questions about hubpages!
You are surely providing a high quality service. And a service that is easy and fun to use too.
hi, im finding my way around yet since i am new. But guess what? It's strange but nice kinda strange that when I log in to hubpages...I seem to want to write. I don't know if some of you guys out there feel the same way. Anyhow, I am sure I too will enjoy hubbing... and one of these days earning wouldn't be bad either. :-)
Thanks for that Paul, one thing I love about Hubpages is that the founders are willing to answer questions like this and not just ignore the people who use their site. Thanks!
Great hub Paul, as an added bonus hubpages has created a great community of writers who share ideas, help and support each other and a few friendships have developed along they way.
Hubpages has become like a second family to me, and everyone was there for me when I went through one of the most difficult parts of my life, when I lost my hearing, you guys helped me through it with your messages of support and best wishes.
The money is another added bonus, I make a few dollars every month that I have been putting away for the children, they will get a big surprise one day,I don't know what it will be yet but whatever it is it will be thanks to hubpages.
Thanks to everyone on the hubpages staff, thanks to my fellow hubbers and online friends and thanks to everyone who visits hubpages and reads our hubs.
have fun everyone.....jimmy
Jimmy, you've been great from the beginning. I can still remember your first hub:)
Thanks Paul seems like so long ago and yet it isn't even a year since I joined LOL, .....JIMMY
P.S Thanks for having me
Hi Paul,
I just started making hubs about 5 weeks ago, and I like all the suggestions that you guys are sending thru the newsletters, keep up the good work. I have to write more hubs to make money.....(lol) thanks for making hubpages a friendly place.
I am very much thankful for this website hubpages.com. This site provides a great avenue for aspiring writers. I see this site as a golden opportunity.
I like to use Hubs sometimes as a way to vent some frustrations... other times, I like to use them simply as a way to write about whatever topic happens to be clouding my mind so that I can get on with what I REALLY should be doing at work... ;o)
I think Hubpages takes collaborative, viral marketing to a new level. While Google and other companies try to engage the free minds to promote their objectives, Hubpages indeed becomes an extension of their ultimate design. Excited to live in this knowledge sharing revolution.
