Lycopene - Prostate's Friend

“A bowl of tomato soup a day may keep prostate cancer away”, is a quote of unknown origin; but is one of supreme importance where the health of the Prostate Gland is concerned. Studies have shown that men who consumed tomato-based foods like tomato soup, tomato puree, ketchup, and pasta sauce with tomato as the main ingredient were as much as 20% less likely to develop Prostate Cancer.

During the same study, it was discovered that leafy green vegetables and carrots had no significant effect on Prostate Cancer. Although many vegetables are proven to be of benefit in the fight against many other cancer types, prostate cancer seems to be an exception. The key player in this phenomenon is thought to be the antioxidant Lycopene which is found in cooked tomato products.

The same adage applies to Lcopene as with any of the healing properties found in food sources, and that is to obtain the benefits from wholesome foods as far as possible as opposed to supplements. Tomatoes are readily available, but remember the best results are obtained from cooked tomato products.

I will finish this article as I normally do by banging on about the positive benefits that massage can have on your prostate. And I don’t mean the invasive internal type either. Just a simple piece of non medical kit that you sit on, fully clothed, is all you need. I really do think that every man over the age of 45 should have one of these it is that important.
