Top 10 Dating Sites
71I have been single for a few years and throughout my years
of singleness, I have tried out many online dating sites. Some have been paid
sites and some have been 100% free.
I do realize that not everyone is looking for someone with the same religious beliefs as I am, because of my strong preference for having someone with the same faith, it makes dating all that much more difficult. This is a rundown in order of preference for the best dating sites in my experience. Here are the top 10 dating sites. The list starts with #1 as being the best and #10 being my least favorite.
1.) Okcupid.com - Okcupid is by far one of the most pleasant dating site experiences I have had. I have been a member of that site for a little over 2 years and have had some rather good experiences with it. I had a decent date but unfortunately the chemistry was not there for me. I also ended up seeing an old friend from high school on there (he was actually a match for me) and so we were able to catch up. The website is really a large social network. There are forums, journals, fun user made tests and user created questions to answer. Your okcupid matches are pretty accurate and are based on a combination of what you are seeking and how the matches answered certain questions. Best of all this site is 100% free to use and free to message other members.
2.) Christian Dating For Free – Christiandatingforfree.com is another 100% free dating site. The database of local singles isn’t too bad. I had several page listings of men that met my age and height requirements.
3.) Cupid.com – Cupid.com is primarily a speed dating service but they also have an online dating service too. It has a low database of singles but it’s free to set up a profile and wink. To actually message someone you will need a membership which is relatively cheap, $8.00 a month.
4.) Match – Match.com isn’t as bad as it used to be a few years ago. You don’t get fake winks and pretty much 90% of the members on the site are paying members so you know communication with matches isn’t going to limit you too much.
5.) Plenty Of Fish – plentyoffish.com is a pretty decent website that is 100% free. You can contact members and exchanges messages totally free. It also offers forums that are quite busy. The only thing is it seems there are a lot of non-serious people on that site and lots of people looking for an easy way to hook up or cheat. I have been a member of that service for about 3 years and I have actually only met up with one person even though there are hundreds of local men in my area .
6.) Yahoo personals – Yahoo’s personals isn’t certainly the best online dating service but it doesn’t get the worst either. You knew it had to be included on the top 10 dating sites right? My problem with the service is that there are not many paying members so it makes communication rather difficult.
7.) Chemistry – Chemistry.com is owned by match.com. The chemistry matches are based on your personality which is concluded from a series of questions. It’s similar to eHarmony but not that in depth. You can’t actively search the database but that is because the website is trying to match you up appropriately. My matches have been ok but it usually has been a physically chemistry that is lacking for me on that site.
8.) Matchmaker – matchmaker.com Most of the services on the site are available for free. You can see how has messaged you, read messages and send “interest notifications” for free. The database seems to be decent in size and I must say, there was a lot of average to good looking men on the site. Matchmaker must screen fuglies. LoL Just kidding!
9.) American Singles – americansingles.com I have a lot of beefs with this site. Even though you can create a free profile, you are really limited on seeing who has messaged you, viewed you and the search features are too basic. They do not even have smoking, drinking or religious affiliation available on profiles so you are basically just seeking out people by age and location. I don’t have time to search through thousands of profiles only to find out a man is too short, too fat and I am totally blinded as to the religion. And again many members are not paying members so communication is pointless on this site.
And #10 on the top 10 dating sites is:
10.) eHarmony – eharmony.com comes in dead last, only because you are not allowed to search the database and even if you find a good match, you cannot view your matches profile photos until you fork over your credit card. I had what seemed like a perfect match for me only when I finally caved to pay in order to view his photos he did not look 37. Try 57! My sister has had some good dates from eHarmony but I am totally turned off by the fact that you can’t view photos unless you pay first.
