Homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex come in a variety of difference. Some are big, small, fancy and exquisite, old and rugged, 1 car garage, 20 car garage. The D Magazine based in Dallas/Fort Worth published an edition to the 100 Most Expensive Homes in Dallas. I figured, 100 would take too much time, so I am just numbering the Top 10. Most of these homes are located in Highland Park or University Park, a very wealthy part of north Dallas. Enjoy reading about the homes, who owns them, and pictures. Some information was taken off of the Dallas Central Appraisal District.

1. Tom and Cinda Hicks – Coming in at $41,462,030, this home is the most expensive in Dallas. Tom Hicks is one of the members of the finance firm Hicks, Muse, Tate, and Furst. Hicks also loves his sporting teams; he owns the Texas Rangers(baseball), Dallas Stars(hockey), and Liverpool FC(soccer). This luxurious home located on Walnut Hill Lane is around 29,000 sq feet on 25 acres. The age of this house is 71 years old, so it has been around a while! It has 6 bedrooms, 12 fireplaces, and a deck with a spa and pool.

2. John and Lyn Muse – Coming in at $30,208,470, this home is one beauty. John Muse is the chairman of HM Capital Partners and also is a member of Hicks, Muse, Tate, and Furst. His house on Preston Road is 24,932 square feet. The house includes 9 bathrooms, 6 bedrooms, 8 fireplaces, and a pool.

3. Larry and Joyce Lacerte – Coming in at $28,742,300, this house also has luxurious features. Larry is the co-founder of Lacerte Software, a high money-making business which he sold in 1998 to Intuit for $400 million which probably helped him with buying this mansion on Park Lane. With the living area at 23,151 square feet, the Lacerte’s have much to enjoy including 10 bathrooms, 10 fireplaces, 6 bedrooms, and a deck with spa and pool. This home was on the market for a whopping 45 million, more than Tom Hick’s estate.

4. H. Ross Perot – Coming in at $24,816,180, this home belongs to a wealthy and smart man. Ross Perot is the founder of EDS and Perot Systems. He is #68 on the Forbes Richest Americans with a value of 5 billion. His family, the Perot family, was a wealthy and well known family in Dallas in the 1900’s. This amazing estate reaches 2 lots on Strait Lane and Inwood Road. This house is 8,264 square feet with 5 bedrooms and a pool. This home also has quite the garage bay collection.

5. Harlan Crow – Coming in at $24,087,440, this home is one of the biggest on Preston Road. Harlan is in the real estate business. His father, Trammell Crow, was also a well known man in Dallas. Trammell shaped Dallas as we know it today. He owned 100 million square feet of commercial buildings! His wife and his house are number 13 on the list. This home is massive at 30,875 square feet, bigger than number 1 on the list! This home includes 8 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, a servant’s headquarters detached from the house and a green house. This home is 91 years old!

6. Ed Cox – Coming in at $21,832,500, this oilman’s has quite the home. As I said, Ed was a big oilman and investor. He gave a lot to the SMU’s business school including his name and wealth. His mansion on Beverly Drive includes a pool, tennis court, detached garage bay, and a greenhouse. The house is a pearly white shade with large block colomns. When you look at the house, it looks rather awkward because the back half of the house looks like a massive gym.

7. Gene and Roxanne Phillips – Coming in at $19,800,000, this home is also quite nice. Gene owns real estate in South Korea and also owns a successful energy company called Balkan Energy Company. This home on Gaywood Dr is around 18,500 square feet and has a pool, detached garage bay, tennis court, a cabana, and a basement. It takes up about 14.2 acres.

8. Gerald Ford – Coming in at $19,289,970, this mansion is 25,791 square feet. Gerald is on the Forbes list of Richest Americans number 355 with a value of 1.5 billion. He sold Golden State Bancorp in 2002 to Citigroup for 6 billion. Ford also has his hand in sporting events as the SMU’s football stadium is named after him and he owns Diamond A Racing, a horse racing team. This home’s luxuries include a deck, pool, servant’s quarters, a basement, cabana, and a porte cochere, which is just like a garage but with no walls. This mansion is on Turtle Creek Blvd.

9. Mark Cuban – Coming in at $17,603,280, this is one of the nicest houses I have ever seen. Everyone knows who Cuban is, a wealthy, loud mouth rich dude. He has a worth of 2.6 billion locating him at number 161 on the Richest American’s list. His home on Deloache Ave is 23,676 square feet, has a big collection of garage bays, a cabana, pool, and tennis court.

10. Jerry and Gene Jones – Coming in at $17,343,200, this is quite a home. Jerry Jones is number 355 on the Richest American’s list with a value of 1.4 billion. He owns the Dallas Cowboys and is also a big businessman. Jerry Jones and his Dallas Cowboys team are currently building the largest football stadium in Arlington, Texas. This Preston Road home looks like it should be located in Florida with a pretty orange roof, a pool, and many other luxuries.

Well, I hope you liked learning about some of the rich and famous and their homes.

Gorgeous huuses....I recognize all the street names from when I used to take the tollway to work in Addison. I rode around some of those areas at lunch sometimes. We don't have stuff like that in my neck of the woods.
