I have compiled a list of some of my favourite songs which I thought I would share with you all. I have quite a diverse taste so if you don't like the first few then don't assume you won't like them all. I may have to do more in depth lists of specific genres but I'll leave you with this for now!

Beating Heart Baby – Head Automatica The first time I heard this song was in my first term at university, I didn't know what it was but I knew that I loved it. Every time I make a playlist this song goes on it and all my friends hear this song and think of me. It's so upbeat and lively and puts a massive smile on my face, especially when it comes on in a club or when I'm out somewhere. It's the sort of song that you turn up really loud with headphones on and the beat just blows your mind ... well mine anyway.

Nothing At All – Santana I love all Santana songs, I think he's a beautiful guitarist, so unique and passionate but I love this song particularly because from the first time I heard it I felt like I could really relate to the lyrics (written by Rob Thomas). They resonate really deeply inside me and it seemed like he was singing about my life. Some of my favourite lyrics ever are from this song: 'you were a victim of my crimes, a product of my rage, you were a beautiful distraction.' He sings about being disillusioned by religion and it felt like finally someone understood how I felt.

VooDoo People – Prodigy This is a massively upbeat song that I'd heard many times before I realised what it was. It took me ages to track down (since at the time I knew nothing about drum n bass) and it's another song that just makes me so happy everytime I hear it. It's a brilliant rave song, but actually the times I listen to it the most are when I'm in the gym and I need some motivation. I have trouble running (coz I am a retard) but with this track on I just somehow find it so much easier to run and get on.

Kiss Me – Sixpence None The Richer I actually started out hating this song years and years ago. It's one of those songs that has a distinct kind of memory attached to it. When we first got Sky TV and I was suddenly introduced to loads of music channels this song used to play all the time. I heard it once more recently and just fell in love with it again. I guess I would describe it as a fairly innocent song. It's about kissing, but at no point does it suggest sex or anything more sexual than just a kiss.

It’s Not Over – Daughtry My boyfriend introduced me to the wonders of Daughtry. I believe they won or were on American Idol, but being from the UK and never watching reality TV I hadn't heard of them. I know I've used this phrase before, and will probably use it again, but I was blown away by this song as well. I thought it was so passionate and emotional. I would describe Daughtry as being sort of gentle rock. They are less rock-y than Nickelback for example but perhaps too heavy to be pop ... I imagine people would disagree with me about that though. Either way, i think this band were a brilliant find and I love 'It's Not Over.'

So Far Away – Staind Staind were my absolute favourite band (along with Evanescence) when I was about 16/17. I was going through that period in my life (as I'm sure everyone does) where I was depressed all the time, miserable, hated life. I think the music I chose to listen to during that time only fuelled this. 'So Far Away' was one of the first songs of theirs that I heard and I just loved it so much. As a fairly emo teenager I felt that my emotions were constantly heightened, so it's difficult to explain exactly how this song made me feel. It just ... connected with my heart!

Shakin’ Hands – Nickelback This is a relatively new song (on the most recent Nickelback album), and it represents a whole host of songs which I think of as dance-on-a-table songs. Other songs that also fit this category are Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard and I Love Rock and Roll. I'm not really sure what else there is to say about this song, other than that it sounds great when you're driving fast with the windows down! The poem/song 'My Deadly Sin' that I posted on here. I imagine would sound like this song!

Wonderwall – Oasis A true Brit classic! This song is just great and for all guitar lovers, its so easy to play. I don't know exactly what it is that makes this song so awesome, its so simple but yet so beautiful, written by two lads that you would not expect to create something this beautiful. I don't know anyone that doesnt like this song its just ... a classic!

Start of Something Beautiful – Porcupine Tree Another great song! I was introduced to this song by a friend a few years ago and I found it so serene and calming. It's quite a long track, which usually I don't like, but I found there was something quite unusual about their sound that made me want to just keep on listening to it all the time. I don't know exactly what their style of music is called, its just a weird kind of rock. But good weird! One of those tracks that I had on repeat for days. ( i couldn't find a video for this so if you're interested you'll have to do your own research, sorry!)

Broken - Seether ft Amy Lee This is definitely one of my favourite ever songs. I have tried to resist calling songs beautiful up to now because i think the word 'beautiful' demands a lot from a song. But there is no song that I can think of more perfect than this to have the label of beautiful. I adore Amy Lee and her voice works brilliantly on this song and fits so well with Seether (who's name I have forgotten). I love the video too, and after seeing it spent a long time obsessed with beautiful women with black fairy wings!
